Arian Foster Hamstring Twitter Comment and My New Christian IDP Sleeper

Arian Foster tweeted the following today: "“4 those sincerely concerned, I'm doing ok & plan 2 B back by opening day. 4 those worried abt your fantasy team, u ppl are sick.”

Obviously, us fantasy geeks take offense to that at first glance. However, I'd like to let this comment sink in and make us really reflect upon ourselves as human beings.

There is little doubt that this game we play is EXTREMELY addicting and I'll be the first to admit that it takes a lot of will power on my part to re-prioritize my life back in perspective when my addiction starts to become an issue.  Having 3 kids under 8 years old and a loving wife who also wants to spend time with me this time of year, really helps me get back on track and remember what's really important.

P.S. The Comments Below Are Religious Based, but You'll Still Want to Read to Find Out Who My New Sleeper LB is For IDP. And, For Me, I Have Faith in Him Because of His New Found Faith
But above all things, what really keeps "my eyes on the prize" is my faith in God. My definition of "eyes on the prize" is the final command of Jesus "to love one another."  And this is where Arian Foster's comment comes into play. No matter what you think of him as a person, player, teammate, etc., he is to be loved according to our father in Heaven. And I understand that some who are reading this may not believe in God, but even if you take the "humanistic" approach to life, a 'good' person's first reaction should be about a fellow human being's health over the immediate reaction to analyze how this affects our fantasy team. (don't get me wrong, my 'natural reaction' every time is to think of the impact on my team, but I try hard to remember to pray for that player as a human being first and then analyze the outcome second)
I'm reminded of Luke 9:25 "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and lose his very self?" As irony would have it, just this minute my wife called me to come up stairs and see "the most precious thing" (her words) and as I walked into my sleeping 2 year old's room just now, she was sleeping so sweetly with her open book of "little prayers" still in her little hands and resting on her chest. And by the way her little bears were lined up next to her, it looks like she fell asleep reading them a bedtime story.

A little further down in this editorial, I'm going to post Christian witness stories by some of our favorite IDP guys and the sleeper LB that inspired this story.  He's a new Christian who gives full credit to God for learning how to deal with the up and down roller-coaster ride he's had since being drafted in 2009.

But first, I think it only fair that I give a summary of how I went from being a partying college football player, crazy semi-pro rugby player, absentee husband/father throughout the first years of my marriage and how God showed His love and just sovereignty throughout. As I say, just a summary because a detailed recollection would go on for pages and pages.

My Christian Testimony (summarized)
My first confession needs to start with: "I still love the idea of partying."  The keywords there are "the idea" because the actual act is so much uglier than the idea of it looking back now. But, at the time, surrounding myself with fellow "animals" who thought waking up with zero recollection of what happened the night before was hilarious and no matter how sick or out of hand the things you did where, they just laughed and began talking about when we can do it again. During one stretch of time as an undergrad in college, I racked up 2 "disturbing the peace", 3 "drunk in publics" and "2 public nudity" citations and the group I hung out with glorified those papers higher than any athletic trophy we could have earned.  More importantly, during that stretch, I racked up approximately 4 missed family birthdays, 2 forgotten Mother's Days and 1 skipped Christmas to party with friends somewhere else instead of being with family. The word "lost" could not fit me any better. Considering I was a kid who used to draw every single Mother's Day card all way up to senior year of high school.  And I took an almost giddy pride in finding the perfect Christmas gifts for family members growing up. (I can say with complete honesty that I enjoyed giving gifts more than receiving them.) So comparing the person I started out to be with the person I had become was an "open & shut case" for proving how far off the path I had wandered.

After undergrad, I got an internship that summer in Public Relations with the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. I was not religious and that internship did not make me religious, but it did give me a summer away from my college roommates, working 8 hours a day in a "shirt & tie" job and a sense for responsibility.  Shortly after, during my first couple weeks of grad school, I met my future wife.  I had my relapses of immaturity that nearly cost us our relationship, but eventually wised up and asked her to marry me.  My demons hid for a little bit, but my addiction to partying flared back up enough to get me a DUI and nearly cost us our marriage. During that stretch we had a couple miscarriages, a death on her side of the family and our relationship was really being tested. I was studying anatomy books and looking for answers of how the human body has miscarriages and taking the whole scientific approach. My wife didn't want to hear any of it. We were both at our breaking point then one night in a fairly drunken state of mind, I decided to pray. The next morning I woke up babbling, and at this point in our relationship, my wife and I were barely on speaking terms. But that morning she shook me asking what I just said.  I was hungover and really didn't know, but I could tell that this was very important to her so I really focused and thought back. I told her that I had a dream about a little girl with brown ponytails bouncing on a man's knee that looked like her Pap, who just passed recently. And he was singing a country song to the girl about everything's OK, they're just waiting for a healthy body for you.

I'll never forget my wife's reaction and her tears as she threw herself at me hugging me and kissing my cheeks. She said that she had the same dream and she jumped out of bed happier than I'd seen her in nearly a year. What I didn't know is that she had taken up prayer as well and had been doing it for a month. That day and that dream was the turning point of our life together. The next day, I went in and found out my "man" count was low and that I needed to give up alcohol and start exercising and doing different vitamins. It wasn't immediate, but after about 7 months of trying, we got pregnant again and ended up having that brown haired baby girl that I dreamed about.  We didn't need to be hit over the head twice to know this was of God and we found a good church and got our little girl baptized and the rest is history. (kinda)

The real miracle, when my faith took the next step, came when my Dad was in a comma and it was 100% prayer that saved him beyond the doctors and nurses understanding. And about a 1000 other little things God has done between then and now, but those are stories for another day. All I know is the facts. When I look at my movie collection, I see I'm a changed man with over 50% of it being Christian based (still can't give up my Will Farrell movies or some others), when I look at the books on my shelf (90%), when I look at my checkbook, when I see I'm Vice Chair of my church council and head of our Caring For Neighbors committee and especially when I look at my wonderful kids singing in church, doing plays and growing up so happy and thankful in the loving light of God... I just know and can't believe a horrible ass like me could ever be blessed with such amazing gifts to raise and love.

Favorite NFL IDP Christians
Let's take a look at some of our favorite IDPs and their testimonies:

Patrick Willis
People often ask Willis how he managed to overcome all the challenges (abusive father, loss of his brother) in his life.
"By the grace of God," he says. "No matter what your circumstance in life, whether it's a bad upbringing or a loss of a sibling or loss of family member, keep your head up and stay strong. Believe in God and he'll take care of you."
—Patrick Willis on his Christian faith from USA Today.

Ray Lewis
"To get to God, you gotta go through things.  Don't look at my yesterday, look at my tomorrow.
I've said it before, God never changes.  The relationship was there all along."
—Ray Lewis on his Christian faith.

Newest Favorite IDP Sleeper and, more importantly, Newest Christian Aaron Curry (OLB, Sea)
If Nothing Else, Let's Keep Him in Our Prayers All Season as a Person (not just someone who can benefit our fantasy football team)
Credit for this Article goes to Jerry Brewer Seattle Times

Aaron Curry has been called many things, most of them unflattering, during his lackluster first two NFL seasons. Now, he is adding his own label to the list.
"I'm a Jesus freak," Curry declares proudly.
His critics' heads are probably doing 360s right now.
Curry doesn't care. He's at peace, finally. His early pro career has been a whir of underachieving and overanalyzing, of the philosophies of two different head coaches and of mass confusion over how he best fits into a defense. He and the Seahawks have restructured his massive rookie contract, trimming it from six to four years, eliminating a guaranteed $5 million salary for next season and putting his status after the 2011 season in limbo.
You'd expect Curry to be on edge as he approaches a make-or-break year with the Seahawks. But he's not. For a player who often wears his emotions on his shoulder pads, Curry is practically serene right now.
It's the religion. It would be irresponsible to write about Curry and ignore it, even if the topic might be polarizing. He was baptized in March, after attending a pro athletes' Christian retreat with his wife, Jamila. His Twitter feed is a constant stream of Bible scripture and praise. He is like a 6-foot-2, 255-pound evangelist, talking with the passion of a man who has discovered a universal elixir.
And what does this have to do with football? Well, Curry is showing signs of improvement in three key areas — patience, playbook comprehension and discipline — and he credits his faith for that. Curry has struggled with the Seahawks not because he's lazy or content after signing a huge contract. To the contrary, he wants it too much at times. He overruns plays, or becomes robotic when he doesn't understand the nuances of playing the position, or fails to grasp the big picture of what the Seahawks are trying to do in their defensive scheme.
Because Curry's problems aren't physical, he still has a chance to be a rare, late-blooming linebacker if he can relax, study harder and develop a better feel for the game. Many don't see it and breathlessly declare him a bust. But Curry, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2009 draft, is only 25. There's still time. There's little question about his athletic ability. And there's no doubt his newfound faith is changing his mental approach.
"I never approached the game and said, 'OK, I'm the fourth pick, and I've got to show why I'm the fourth pick,' " Curry said. "I've learned a lot, through my mistakes and through some successes. I'm going to continue to grow, but definitely, being a Christian, I've learned that, no matter how hard you try, you can't please everybody — and that includes myself.
"I'm not fighting myself now. Even though I was blessed, I used to be unhappy, and I was constantly trying to figure out why I was unhappy. Now, I can't find any unhappy days. My faith in Christ is settling me down. It's giving me peace."
It's giving him a desire to sit and read and explore the complexity of what he's reading. It starts with the Bible, but it carries over to the playbook.
"With the Bible, you have to read it, understand it, apply it and deliver it," Curry said. "That's how you understand it. And that's what I need to do to understand the playbook — read it, understand it, apply it and deliver it. My faith and obedience is definitely helping to elevate my game on the field."
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who isn't exactly Bill Parcells when it comes to criticizing players publicly, always says positive things when asked about Curry. But perhaps it's telling that Carroll is praising Curry for his mentality and focus during this camp, saying that Curry has "been at the top of his game in terms of preparation."
Lost cause? Maybe not.
Curry may never justify being the No. 4 pick two years ago. Hyperbole suggested he was the best linebacker prospect of the past decade. He's not that, but he's a legitimate NFL starter. After experimenting with Curry, the Seahawks will keep him strictly as a strongside linebacker this season. It's not a glamour position in this defense, but Curry is willing to accept this role.
"I'm not going to pick and choose when I go hard," Curry said. "The role, whatever. The position, whatever. I can't control that. I can only control my effort and whether I can impact the play or not. I'll leave it up to the coaches to put me in the right position, and I'll go full speed."
The self-proclaimed Jesus freak has found his purpose. Next discovery: his game?

IDP Fantasy Football Draft Rankings 2011

For all of you who have been asking for my IDP rankings, I'm watching the games and collecting a lot of research.

As all of you know, it's been the craziest year of guys switching teams in such a short time frame that has ever occurred in the history of the NFL.

For instance, depending on how Stephen Tulloch (a top 5 fantasy LB last year) is used in pre season for the Lions, he could be ranked anywhere from top 10 to outside the top 25 LBs. And it's like that at a lot of positions around the league.

So hopefully most of you were aggressive in your leagues to push for the latest draft date possible this year. It's more important than ever to wait.

If you are in the unfortunate position to draft early, then email me individual questions and I'll do my best to answer.

Nick Barnett, 2011 IDP Fantasy Football Sleeper, Linebacker Buffalo Bills

The average NFL game has 125 plays (an average of 63 offensive plays and 62 defensive plays). However, over the last 2 years, the Buffalo Bills defense was on the field an average of 72 plays per game. 10 more plays per game than most other teams. No defensive unit in the NFL has been on the field for more plays over the last 2 years than the Bills. It's no wonder Buffalo has produced 2 top 15 IDP players from different positions for 2 years in a row and corner J. Byrd is a very close 3rd finishing just above breakout IDP producer Brent Grimes of Atlanta to become a borderline IDP stud in the ranks of fellow team members Paul Posluszny & Donte Whitner.

But, things change (especially this year) and Buffalo says goodbye to Poz and hello to Nick Barnett, who had an immediate impact in the IDP world when he entered the NFL in 2003. By no coincidence, the movie Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines hit theaters at that same time. And, a machine he was, averaging 90 solos in his first three years, but then had an off-season in 2006 with only 61 solos. He rebounded in 2007 becoming a top 10 LB, posting a solid 102 solos and once again producing at a strong level. And, after an injury plagued 2008, he rebounded once again in 2009 with an 82 tackle/ 4 sack season.

For where you are able to get this guy at the bottom of your drafts, considering he is only 2 years removed from his top 3 IDP status where many had him ranked just below Patrick Willis & Ray Lewis, he's a steal and really, really worth the roster spot.

Ruud, Ray Edwards, Bradley, Landry, Marshall - IDP Fantasy Free Agent News

Trying to keep up with all the latest IDP Free Agency Moves:

Barrett Ruud LB Titans - Yummy for IDP as your low end LB2. Could be a value pick or a name people pull the trigger on too soon in drafts. You'll just have to watch and see in your drafts.

Shaun Smith DT Titans – Not huge news for IDP, but adds to Ruud's value and could be a waiver wire pick for DT required leagues.

Daniel Manning SS Texans – I don't expect Daniel Manning to replace Bernard Pollard in the IDP world. But for those who get return yards in thier leagues, Manning may be your number one pick this year.

Alan Branch DT Seahawks – Branch probably won’t be a full time starter. The interesting thing to note about the Seahawks defensive line is they led their team in tackles last season.

Brandon Mebane DT Seahawks – Still not sure how their going to use him or Alan Branch yet so no IDP value to report yet.

Justin Durant LB Lions - Not draft worthy, but watchable for IDP wire.

Eric Wright CB Lions – Just a "blah" move for IDP who might have some waiver wire value after the season starts, but not draftable.

Nate Clements CB Bengals - Waiver wire IDP at this point, but solid "real life" pickup for Cincy

Kelly Gregg NT Chiefs – Now this could be sneaky value pick in IDP leagues.

Ray Edwards DE Falcons – I'm not drafting him for IDP. I believe his strongest asset was always Jared Allen being such a threat on the other side. Let someone else draft him. His name and numbers from last year will get him drafted sooner than I'm willing to take him.

Stewart Bradley LB Cardinals – This puts a real damper on my favorite sleeper Paris Lenon for IDP, but does make Bradley an interesting value pick if he falls in the drafts.

Richard Marshall CB Cardinals – Wow, I think I like this for IDP. Once again, another Cardinals pick that dampens my man crush I had on Greg Toler, but with Patrick Peterson on the other side, Richard Marshall will be targeted a lot and we could see "Greg Toler" like numbers out of him.

Dawan Landry S Jaguars – I’m not in love with this situation for IDP fantasy purposes. I think he was in a better situation with the Ravens. I'm seeing him at free safety, but if he ends up being the Jags strong safety, I'll revisit these thoughts.

Kevin Burnett LB Dolphins – Lining up opposite Karlos Dansby on the inside, Burnett could have some serious value, but I'd feel better about getting him off the waiver wire than drafting him.

Roman Harper SS Saints – Harper should remain a top twenty defensive back for IDP fantasy leagues.

Zac Diles LB Rams – Diles will be the Rams starting weak-side linebacker. Diles has shown flashes of IDP greatness for the Texans, so he may be a waiver wire wonder at some point this year for IDP fantasy leagues.

Al Harris CB Rams – Don't be fooled by the big name. I think he's just for depth at this point in his career. No IDP value here.

Justin Bannan DL Rams – This is good news for James Laurinitas who I like a lot this year.

Cullen Jenkins DT Eagles – This not only improves Jenkins IDP value, but also the MLB for the Eagles. I was really excited that that was Jamar Chaney, but Casey Matthews started at MLB in Eagles practice, while Chaney played SLB. We'll have to keep a very close eye on this situation.

Nnamdi Asomugha from raiders to eagles cornerback

Nnamdi Asomugha signs with the Philadelphia Eagles so now they have Cromartie and Asanti Samuel.

They are either going to trade Samuel or they plan on playing Cromartie at safety. My guess is they trade Samuel.

IDP Fantasy 2011 Free Agent Moves - Toler, Cromartie, Joseph, Session, Babin, Spikes, Mikell, Josh Wilson, Pollard???

  • Texans were 30th in defense, 32nd against the pass. Joseph and Manning will start for sure. FS Glover Quin and CB Kareem Jackson should, 2. Where does this put Bernard Pollard? CB Joseph in Houston going to be huge for IDP.
  • Clint Session signing with Jaquars next to Posluszny sure does make an interesting LB corp. Very excited about Pat Angerer left in Colt land though.
  • Early hunch, but Rams may use Mikell at FS and that would keep the terrific sleeper value of Craig Dahl at SS intact for IDP
  • I like Takeo Spikes signing in San Diego. I'm not drafting him though. Between the history of trying to guess which SD linebacker will go off + Spikes age & change of scenery, I'd much rather grab Paris Lenon who has performed everywhere he's been in the past 4 years.
  • Josh Wilson as a Redskin is something to watch. Seems dull, but he will be thrown at, unlike Carlos Rogers. I think this definitely drops DeAngelo Hall down the rankings as he is no longer across from a "semi" shutdown corner. Otogwe at FS is feeling more and more like a good pick to me. Lots of production out of both Redskin safety positions.
    • I'm loving CB Greg Toler as a sleeper this year. Please just keep him quiet in the news, don't let the Cardinals pick up anyone and I'll gladly take him.  I'm feeling him as the second best CB behind Charles Woodson, but I hope no one else views him that way in our leagues.
Credit to Maze for asking the following questions: (lets answer them together in the comments)

Keeping my eye on: CBs: Prince Amukamara (NYG): Does he have value? What will it do to Terrell Thomas's value? Patrick Peterson (ARI): Will the starters be him and DRC? Is Toler worthless, you think? Ras I Dowling (NE): Will he start right away? How does his prescence effect Devin McCourty? DTs: Nick Fairley (DET): Does Suh's production go down? Does he increase the value of Kyle Vanden Bosch? Does he have value at the DT position himself or will he only play a fraction of the snaps? Marcel Dareus (BUF): Is Buffalo running a 34 anymore? Does he decrease the value of Kyle Williams? Increase the value of Chris Kelsay? LBs: I understand a lot of this will depend on which position players are listed at . For instance, I think Von Miller has a ton of value as a DE, but very little as a LB. Robert Quinn (STL): 43 end right? Von Miller (DEN): Will he play mostly 43 end, or are they trying to play him at LB? Ss: Are there any Safeties that have value as rookies like T.J. Ward did last year? I am also curious as to what you think of some of the offseason moves some teams have made such as New Orleans bringing in Shaun Rogers, New England getting Marcus Stroud, Washington getting Atogwe. That's all I can think of right now, but I look forward to your answers. -- Maze

Paul Posluszny, IDP Stud & Ex-Buffalo Bill Linebacker, signs with Jacksonville Jaquars and Quinton Mikell signs with Rams

This makes him da man in the middle in Jacksonville.  Jacksonville plays a 4-3 defensive scheme, and that was the big factor in the decision, said Michael McCartney, Posluszny's Chicago-based agent.

I don't see a huge IDP fallout from this switch.  I might bump him down just a couple spots out of pessimism because it is something new and there is a touch of uncertainty.  But the bottom line is Poz is a stud and he'll continue to be a stud. In my book, he's still a top 10 LB that will be the cornerstone of your IDP lineup.

The departure of Posluszny leaves the Bills with Andra Davis and rookie Kelvin Sheppard as the prospective starters at inside linebacker in the 3-4 defense.

There are numerous options for the Bills to consider in free agency if they opt to replace Posluszny with a veteran from another team. Among them are San Diego free agents Kevin Burnett and Brandon Siler and Packers inside linebacker Nick Barnett, who was informed by Green Bay Tuesday he will be released on Thursday. Burnett played for Bills outside linebackers coach Bob Sanders in Green Bay.

To me this is the biggest IDP news to come out of free agency so far.  And yes, at the moment of writing this, I am aware the Quinton Mikell has signed with the Rams.  And I'm definitely very intrigued, but you have to wonder why the Eagles have been so disappointed with him as well.  Craig Dahl is still there at SS and I believe Mikell will be the Rams starter, but I'm not so sure he'll put up better IDP numbers than Dahl would have. We'll see what news comes out during the short training camp period regarding this position.

IDP Week 5 NFL Fantasy Football 2010 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

    Immediate Pickups

SS D. Whitner BUF has done it again . His 9 solos and 4 assists this week are enough for me following his incredible IDP score from last week. If you've been waiting for Brian Dawkins or Weddle to take off and been sorely disappointed, grab this guy and replace them. Buffalo strong safety has always been a goldmine and they are on the field an incredible amount of time.

DE/DT H. Ngata BAL - How many of us are kicking ourselves for not picking up this guy for week 4. I'm sure we all looked at him. I know I did when I found out Robaire Smith was questionable, but I went with Chris Clemons instead, who did have 2 Sacks so I can't complain. Ngata got 8 solos 3 assists and 1 sack. WOW! Awesome game and by far the DE pick up of the week.

CB G Toler ARI is the real deal. He has been an IDP giant at his position since he got the call this year and week 4 was no different with 7 total tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

CB Alterraun Verner TEN - I started recommending this guy later in the week to some individual questions because we found out that starting corner Jason McCourty needed arm surgery and Jason's doctor said he will be out until he is healthy. That's an interesting timeframe. So we have no idea how quickly McCourty will be back. In the meantime, Verner will be picked on regularly and his 11 solos this week dictate that. No one wants to throw to Finnegan so Verner will get the tackles by default. Enjoy him while you got him.

!!!NEVERMIND JUST GOT SUSPENDED - OUT 4 WEEKS!!! SS S. Gregory SD is (no longer) safe to pick up now. This week was 6 solos and an INT making that 3 out of 4 games this year with 6 tackles or more.

SS Charles Godfrey CAR is very consistent. He's an above average SS. I'd want him over bigger names like Dawkins or Weddle on my team.

DE/LB chris Kelsay BUF continues to put up decent numbers for a guy listed as a DL in most leagues. He's not a top DL, but consistent & solid week in and week out and the best part is he is a hybrid guy because he truly is an outside linebacker

DT HELP I'm getting a lot of DT questions. I'm going to be completely honest. Anyone who's played knows it's a complete crap shoot most of the time. No doubt that Suh is good & Ngata (who might not be a DT in your league) looked great week 4.

But here's a flyer name for you, Car DT Derek Landri. He's got 11 tackles so far this year and he faces the Bears line who allowed 10 sacks on Sunday night. TEN SACKS in one night!!! So why not give him a whirl if your guy has been getting you nothin? I hate DTs too. I wish they were'nt part of IDP. They might as well be kickers who you close your eyes and pick out of a hat each week.  While we're on the topic, why not give CAR DE Charles Johnson a try this week too. He's get a sack in each of the 2 previous games and could be facing Todd Collins, instead of Cutler and that very weak offensive line.

    Bye Week Pick Up Help

LB Dhani Jones CIN 7 solos is the Bengal LB you'd want over Rivers if one of your guys is on bye. He's not sexy, but he's very consistent. You can mark him down for 5-7 solos anytime you plug him in.

SS Q. Mikell PHI has been solid and consistent. He's a fine fill in.

LB Shaun Phillips SD had a Touchdown, 4 sacks, 1 INT, 5 solos & 2 pass deflections. HOLY $%&#! Unfortunately the previous weeks don't back these numbers up, but what a great boom or bust guy to plug in and roll the dice on.

FS M. Huff OAK did exactly what was predicted and led his team in tackles from free safety vs. Houston with 7 tackles 1 assist. He faces SD next week and should still post 5-6 tackles if you need him, but this week may be his ceiling for the season.

Mirages (Are they for real? Don't pick them up yet)

LB S. Nicholas ATL was fantastic with 12 solos and an assist, but all he was doing was filling in for injured rookie Sean Weatherspoon, who has done nothing to lose his job. So all this performance from Nicholas shows us is who to pick up if Sean Weatherspoon is injured again.

DB Taylor Mays SF 9 solos and 2 assists. This is very exciting to see, but we need to see if he can do this again.

CB David Jones JAQs 9 tackles and 2 assists and 1 forced fumble. A mirage for now since it was vs. the Colts passing game, but worth keeping an eye on.

LB AJ Hawk GB had 9 solos and 3 assists and an INT. Great game, but let's see him do it again. This guy has really let down many of us IDP guys in the past and the trend is you cannot trust him.

LB Keith Rivers CIN put up 8 solos and a sack, but he's so inconsistent that I don't trust him. I wouldn't pick him up unless you are really needing a boom/bust guy and your in a pinch during a bye week or your guy is injured.

LB E. Barton CLE for the Browns is a guy I've NOT been recommending to people all week. I just don't trust any Brown's LBs. If you must start a Browns guy in a pinch, the guy you want is LB S. Fujita, who's a sack specialist and got one this week vs. the Bengals. He also got a forced fumble and 5 solos.

    Observations

LB James Anderson CAR got me 35 points in my league. That's a lot more than my QB. How many did he get you in your league in week 4? Loving him this week! I can't believe he's doing this from SLB. Remember that Beason is the WLB (usually the tackle heavy position) and Conner is in at MLB on run packages, but Connor comes on out passing packages.

LB Paris Lenon ARI did it again and has yet to let us down (knock on wood)

LB Zac Diles HOU did again, but Brian Cushing is back so it's time to release Diles. It was a fun ride and we know who to grab if Cushing gets hurt, but make room for Cush to EXPLODE into the box scores.  If I were to guess what the leaders would look like next week, I'd go Willis, Poz, Cushing, Briggs, J. Anderson, P. Lenon, D. Johnson, C. Lofton, Ruud etc.  I'm really jealous of you Cush owners. I went the other route and stashed Dqwell instead of Cush. You see how that worked out for me.

LB K. Morrison JAQs - He had his first big game of the year with 8 solos and 2 assists and it's the first time he out scored Daryl Smith this year. I think you need to give this another week to tell if it's a mirage or real

SS T.J. Ward CLE was solid again with 8 total tackles, but I might try Buffalo's Whitner over him if you're not happy enough with Ward's numbers for your team.

LB Ray Lewis BAL comes through on big games that he get's fired up for. He's an emotional player and when he plays Pit or the Bengals, he pulls out bigger games. Personally, I'm still very happpy that I started CAR James Anderson over him.

IDP Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football 2010 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

Sometimes there's just not enough room on our rosters. Many of you are probably like me. You can only start 2 safeties in some leagues or you can start any 5 defensive players you want, but your bench slots are very limited. Either way, the dilemma is still the same in both situations. You've got guys on your team who you drafted like Bernard Pollard and Adrian Wilson or overall defensive players like Michael Boley and Clint Session. With each of the guys I just mentioned, your in good shape, right?  Unfortunately, not so much when you see a guy like Chung go off week 1 and your guy Boley gives you only fantasy crumbs. And then this week, Chung has an average week, Boley has a good week and Pollard does OK, but then you see TJ Ward go nuts in week 2. So what do we do? We just don't have enough roster space. Do we drop a stud? We can't... right?

I wish I had easy answers to these questions. The mainstream answer is to never bench or drop your studs. Guys like Ray Lewis, Lance Briggs, Curtis Lofton and Bernard Pollard are going to have "up" weeks and "down" weeks, but they became studs for a reason and we need to stick with them.

But newer guys like I've been mentioning like Patrick Chung and TJ Ward truly are a wait and see between the 2. One may emerge over the other. Or perhaps we find that owning both Chung & Ward will ultimately out perform a duo like Bernard Pollard and Adrian Wilson. We found out last year that owning David Hawthorne was more valuable than owning the very high draft pick David Harris. And Bryan Scott far outperformed a stud like Oshiomogho Atogwe through the second half of the year. So although we shouldn't panic on our studs because they have one bad week like this weeks Curtis Lofton with only 3 solos, we also need to recognize when a better opportunity is arising before our eyes and it's time to pull the plug on a middle-tier "stud". We're coming into week 3 & 4, which are crucial times to recognize these trends.

One example of these trends is the Redskins SS L. Landry is the real deal and he'll continue to be the real deal. If he stays healthy, he could easily end the year as a top 5 IDP guy and the top IDP strong safety. A mirage to ignore from week 2 is Landry's co-partner Reed Doughty with his 10 solos and 4 assists. And although Reed Doughty may be a mirage, free safeties facing Houston are not a mirage. At this point in the season, this is the most solid trend I've seen. Though I cannot recommended picking up the Cowboys FS Alan Ball, who faces Houston week 3, I do recommend looking at the box scores next week to see if even the most pathetic IDP safety in the league sees a bump in tackles. He's averaging about 2 solos a week so even if you see it bump up to 5 or 6, that will be plenty of proof. But keep this trend of FS vs. Houston trend in mind for future pickups/starts.

    Week 3 IDP Pick ups

LB D. Johnson KC  If you didn't get him yet and needed one more week, you've seen he's the real deal now so don't hesitate any longer to plug him in as a really high #2 LB. He's not in the Patrick Willis, Jon Beason realm, but he's putting up similar points. So ride that hand while it lasts. To give you an idea of the guys I would start above and below Johnson. I would choose Clay Matthews over D. Johnson, but I would choose Johnson over Oakland's Rolondo McClain.

SS TJ Ward CLE has officially made the pick up list. He was really good last week and even better in week 2 leading his team with 8 solos and an assist vs. the Chiefs.

LB Paris Lenon ARI  was outstanding with 9 solos and 2 assists in week 2. He was very good in week 1 as well. So who do you choose between fellow LB D. Washington, who got 10 solos this week? Based on the evidence, you have to go Lenon at this point.

LB D. Washington ARI  finished with 10 solos this week and looks like a rising star. He may end up being the more valuable LB in Arizona, but the winner so far is Lenon.

CB Greg Toler ARI, who finished with 13 solos and a forced fumble in week 1 was very solid again in week 2. Teams are going to continue avoiding Cromartie and picking on Toler. He faces Oakland in week 3 so I'd tone down expectations slightly as the Raiders will try to win with a "run first" philosophy. But there's a good chance Oakland will need to throw to catch up so Toler has proved enough to be plugged in as a CB on your squad.

SS Patrick Chung NE, who opened up week 1 with 12 solos and 4 assists, was solid in week 2 with 5 solos. He was inches away from an interception as well. He didn't get a ton of opportunities vs. the Jets so I wouldn't worry about the slight "fall to Earth" in week 2.

LB Dqwell Jackson CLE could be back week 3, but my recommendation is to hold off on him his first game back. We've made due without him this long, we can wait and see how much they us him in the next game. My guess is they work him in slowly a few series here or there to see how he feels.

LB Zac Diles HOU finished with 5 solos and 3 assists this week and he's still a nice pick up until Cushing comes back

DE K. Vanden Bosch DET followed up his 10 solos from last week with 6 total tackles and 1 and a half sacks this week. That is solid stuff!

    Watch VERY Closely

LB Sean Weatherspoon ATL  the rookie had 8 solos, and assist and a sack in his coming out a party vs. Arizona

LB Dan Connor CAR  fell back down to Earth a bith this week with 4 solos and 2 assists. He is still not playing in passing defense so if he's not on the field a percentage of time, he can't get you points.

    Watch Closely

SS Craig Dahl STL 7 solos and 1 assist week 2

DE Jason Babin TEN had 7 solos, 1 assist and a sack. Keep an eye on him

DE Sione Pouha NYJ got 6 solos as a DE. See if this trend is real

LB K. Wimbley OAK gets decent tackle numbers, but it's his sacking ability that really differentiates him

CB D. Butler NE looks like a pretty exciting cornerback. Keep an eye on him.

LB Cameron Wake MIA  Like Wimbley above, he doesn't do it so much in tackles, but sacks and big plays.

LB A. Davis BUF increased his solos in week 2 and is a solid bye week fill in.

LB Ellison BUF filled in for Poz again and was solid enough to be another option for you if you have an injury to one of your guys or are in a deep league

2010 Team Defense Drafting Strategy - NFL Fantasy Football

I've had a few questions about when to draft your team defense.  The answer is the second to last round, just before you get your kicker. Especially this year.

I HIGHLY recommend AGAINST drafting a defense early! (especially as early as 8 or 9).

Did you know that in the last 6 years, only 2 "consistently" projected top 10 FF defenses actually finished in the top ten at the end of the year? Only Chicago & Baltimore a few years back. And that was when there was a definite separation in tiers.  There is absolutely no clear cut #1 fantasy defense this year.

I especially recommend against reaching for your favorite in round 8, 9 or 10. Some of the absolute best values in the draft this year in those rounds. Not only in IDP where you should be grabbing your top DEs first because there are so few of them. (J. allen, T. Cole, J. Peppers, Tuck, Will Smith), but the offensive side of the ball is HUGE at that point.

Guys like Mike Wallace, Malcom Floyd, Clinton Portis, Marion Barber, Zack Miller, Derrick Mason, Jabar Gaffney, Bernard Barrian, Justin Forsett, Owen Daniels, Brett Farve, Vincent Jackson, Caddy Williams.

Definitely wait on a team defense. Just grab the Browns who play TB week 1 and you'll do great. Or grab the Cardinals who play St. Louis week 1 and you'll do awesome. (Not to mention the fact that the Cardinals have some really crappy teams in their division. As do the Chargers.). How about Tennessee who opens up against Oakland.  You get the point.  Just play the matchups each week and you'll do great!

IDP 2010 NFL Fantasy Football Early Waiver Wire Pick Ups

I've done some studying for us and have rethought some advice I've given early on. to some readers. After Patrick Chung was brought back to my attention, I see a real gold mine here at safety.

    Pick up Now

SS Patrick Chung (NE) - It does not need to be officially declared. Patrick Chung has become the starting strong safety in NE this year. He is playing the role of Rodney Harrison and will be in position to rack up a ton of tackles in this defense. Consider him a DB2 with upside.

SS TJ Ward (CLE) - He's the starting SS for a team that will have a ton of 3 and outs on offense. He has a nose for the football and loves to tackle.

Think of Chung as last years T. Branch (only Chung already has 1 year of NFL experience).  And think of TJ Ward as last years L. Delmas. I think Branch finished as a top 5 DB and Delmas finished in the top 10 or very close to it in tackle heavy IDP leagues. You don't want to reach for these guys in your draft, but you won't want to finish your draft without one of them as your upside guy on your bench.  I feel real good about starting Chung right away as DB2.

LB D’Qwell Jackson (CLE) It feels weird to have to suggest picking up such an elite LB, but his injury rumors have varied enough that I think it has scared a lot of owners off.  The latest report is his rehab is on schedule. He’s been cleared to lift weights and hopes to return as early as the regular season opener. He added that there’s “no chance” he will be placed on IR.

So smoke em if you got em!

    Rethinking

Dan Connor (CAR) Yes, Connor is the starting middle linebacker for the Panthers, but he'll only be a 2 down back,. He's fine for an LB5, but I apologize for getting too excited about this guy too early. If you did pick him up based on my advice, I recommend an oldie, but goody from my "you heard it hear first" calls from last year. And that would be the one and only. David Hawthorne.

    Rising Higher

LB David Hawthorne (SEA) - For the value where you are going to get Hawthorne in your draft, I would target him over Tatupu. How much evidence do we need?  The guys a beast and Leroy Hill will not be a Seahawk long with his off the field issues.  So Hawthorne is starting at ILB right next to Tatupu. An easy way to think of this is similar to the NYG LB situation.  Sure, Keith Bulluck is the starting MLB there, but the guy you really want on that team for IDP is Michael Boley (NYG). It's the same with Hawthorne. He's an LB3 with the potential to be a top 5 IDP LB at the end of the year. Now that's value.

SS Sean Jones (TB) - Sean Jones has won the starting strong safety job over Sabbi Piscatelli. Although this battle could go on later in the year, Jones has definitively secured the number one job on yet another crappy offensive team.  He will rack up the tackles because he's known as a hitter so he's a guy to watch in the box scores.

    Watching from a Distance

DE Kroy Biermann (ATL) - He's topping all the camp visitors lists this year as the "stand-out" guy. He's had a terrific pre-season and he's shown a real knack for getting to the QB. He's someone to keep on your radar iat a very thin position.

LB Andra Davis (BUF) - Remember how he was always on the cusp of  "do I or don't I pick him up and plug him in" last year?  He lined up next to DJ Williams and was fairly solid all year.  This year he lines up next to Poz as a starter. And that Bills defense will be on the field for a lot more plays than that Broncos D was last year. More plays, more opportunities and all this guy needs is a slight nudge to move him up to LB5 material with LB4 or 2 upside.

ANOTHER NICE DL TIP, SEE BELOW

    DBs (Defensive Backs)

    B. Scott. (BUF) was back at his natural safety position week 12 and you might not have even known it because he put up tackle numbers like he was still playing LB. Chris Draft looks like he will play linebacker for the rest of the year. But Scott still put up bigger numbers than MLB Poz. That Bills defense is such a gold mine vs. NYJ for week 13. Between T. Jones running and Sanchez throwing INTs, I love Scott and Safety D. Whitner (BUF).

    S. Jones (PHI) vs. Matt Ryan or his backup. Whoever it is will try to force the ball to Tony Gonzalas a TON. Because any team that faces the Eagles knows they are very weak at covering tight ends. That will lead to MANY opportunities for S. Jones. Especially with the screen game they do with J. Norwood coming back from injury and continuing to use Snelling's receiving skills.

SS Bernard Pollard (HOU) is up there with the VERY top guys. He's got a good matchup week 13 and even if it was a bad matchup, Pollard is getting very close to being "matchup proof", just like Bryan Scott. He's putting up solid numbers every game he's started this year.

My DB PICKUP OF THE WEEK S R. Doughty (WAS) vs. Drew Brees  Don't get me wrong, I would still use Scott & Pollard over him, but he deserves a pickup. His 9 solos week 12 vs. Philly was his second highest amount of solos in a game this year. He had 10 solos week 4. Very few safeties have the hitting instincts to put up such high numbers. He's also had 4 games of 6 solos or higher this year. The only reason his total numbers are not higher is Chris Horton was the starting SS the first part of the year before getting benched for Doughty and now Horton is out for the year with injury. Doughty vs. Brees has the potential to be a 7 -10 solos type of game. If C.C. Brown from those Giants can get those numbers vs. Brees, so can Doughty.

    LBs (Linebackers)

LB C. Draft (BUF) is the new LB next to Poz for Buffalo. Draft was a very good LB back in the day and the more "rust" he knocks off, the better he is going to get. He's a very smart football player, which makes him a prime canditate for sacks, INTs & forced fumbles. Week 12 was his first "full start" and he got 5 solos, 2 assists, 1 pd and 1 INT.  Think Witherspoon numbers.

LB Keith Brooking (DAL) has been incredibly consistent this year and he faces NYG week 13 in a huge division game. He's an emotional guy who really brings it for big games.  You can already mark him down for around 7 solos 2 assists with the possibility for extras (like a sack). If those numbers beat your LB, plug him in.

LB D Levy (DET) vs. the Bengals week 13 is a great matchup. Cincy is running the ball more than 40 times a game and every NFL team runs vs. Detroit. That puts Levy in a nice position to put up high tackle numbers.

MY LB PICK UP OF THE WEEK is Demorrio Williams (KC) vs. Denver week 13. I've watched this guy put up higher tackle numbers than DJ Williams, Lofton & Mayo over the last 3 weeks.  How much longer can you keep a guy on the waiver wire who's averaging more than 7 solos a week? He's been almost as consistent as Clint Session from Indy.

    DLs (Defensive Line)

DL/LB David Bowens (CLE) has become a no brainer if he is a DL in your league. And Calvin Pace (NYJ) fits that same category of DL/LB who gets Buffalo week 13. He has a fantastic shot at having a 2 sack game.

NON Defensive End Casey Hampton (PIT)  vs. OAK week 13.  I've been asked to list at least 1 "interior" linemen here for people who have to start defensive tackles. Interior linemen have been getting a good amount of sacks vs. Oakland this year and Hampton just picked up a sack week 12 last week vs. KC.

DL A. Ogunleye (CHI) vs. the Rams week 13.  I feel pretty good about him getting a sack in this one.  The side he is lined up on has had a sack on the Rams ever week for 8 weeks in a row. How's that for consistency? I'm sure I just jinxed everyone who uses him this week though. Let's put it this way. Seattle's D has had very few sacks this year and they got 4 vs. St. Louis week 12.  If Ogunleye is not on your wire, use Alex Brown (CHI), you still got a great shot at a sack.

MY DL Pick up of the Week is Shaun Ellis (NYJ). vs. Buffalo week 13.  Joey Porter got his 2.5 sacks, Starks got a half sack and even Jason Taylor got a half sack vs. Buffalo week 12. Each of those guys were predicted to get a sack so that gives some strong credit to predicting a sack for Shaun Ellis week 13. He had 8 tackles 2 sacks and 1 FF vs. New England week 11. Good player plus good matchup, equals very good chances.

SPECIAL NEW DL PICKUP OF THE WEEK is Trevor Scott (OAK) he is listed as a DE in almost all leagues, but starts this week at WLB for Oakland!  Special thanks to reader & fellow IDP brother Steffen for bringing this to our attention. He turned in a 6 tackle 2 sack performance last week, but I'm not sure if that was from DE or partly from WLB also. Either way, he fits that David Bowens, Calvin Pace role. Go get him and feel good about putting him over almost any of the "guessing game" DLs out there like Ray Edwards or Wilkerson. I'd stop short of starting him over maybe a Trent Cole or Jarred Allen, but those guys are inconsistent too. This is a real find this late in the season and you want to move on this now! Thanks again Steffen!

AND ANOTHER SPECIAL NEW DL PICKUP OF THE WEEK is A. Spencer (DAL) Special thanks to reader & fellow IDP brother "Choices" for bringing this to our attention. A. Spencer is listed as a DL in Choices league. He is still an LB in my league, but if he is a DL in your league, go get him. As Choices has noticed, he has been racking up the tackles and he turned in a 6 tackle 2 sack performance last week just like Trevor Scott did. So this is another opportunity as he is facing the NYG running game week 13.

IDP Week 12 NFL Fantasy Football 2009 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

    DBs (Defensive Backs)

    B. McGowan. (NE) faces Drew Brees Week 12 and he's been playing well. L. Bodden would be the other NE DB you'd want in this game, but I think McGowan is safer to get solid numbers. Bodden can't get 3 INTs every week like he did week 11.

CB R. Marshall (CAR) vs. Mark Sanchez. Marshall is the next in line to face Sanchez from the exact same position where Bodden just picked off Sanchez 3 times week 11.  Marshall is a solid corner and I think he's good for at least 1 INT and he's coming off a week 11 game vs. Miami where he finished with 7 solos.

S Ko Simpson (DET) went a bit quiet week 11, which puzzles me with all the passing going on. I'll keep an eye out to see if he was injured in that game and that's the explanation. In the meantime, I must recommend him vs. Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is leaving a trail of high numbers for safeties. How about 11 solos for Lewis week 11. Wow!  The safety you really want is Delmas in this one, but Ko Simpson was putting up very good numbers up until the Cleveland game and I could see him doing the same on Thanksgiving.

SS Bernard Pollard (HOU) is very close to my pickup of the week. Last time he faced Manning & the Colts, he got 2 interceptions, 9 solos - 3 assists and 3 pass deflections. That's A LOT more points than my QB Cutler has been putting up. In fact, that's probably 3 weeks worth of Cutler points.  If Pollard finishes with just half those numbers, it's a VERY solid day.

My DB PICKUP OF THE WEEK S Bryan Scott (BUF) continues to be such a stud!  7 solos and a sack week 11.  He gets Miami week 12 and I can't recommend him enough for this matchup.

    LBs (Linebackers)

LB J. Farrior (PIT) L. Timmons has not been what everyone wants him to be so far. And a big reason for that is Farrior.  He constistently out performs Timmons every week in the box scores. He gets Baltimore week 12 and is setup for a very solid game.

LB Clint Session (IND) has been so incredibly consistent this year. He's putting up high numbers every week. He has shown that you can plug him into any matchup, no matter what.

LB D Levy (DET) will get to experience his first Detroit Lions/Green Bay Packers Thanksgiving tradition. Something special always seems to happen for Detroit each Thanksgiving. All the Lions players put up bigger numbers than they have all year.  GB will run Grant silly in this one and Levy should see 7 or so solos.

MY LB PICK UP OF THE WEEK is Andra Davis (DEN) vs. NYG week 12 on Thanksgiving night. Although he's always behind DJ Williams in the box score, it's never too far behind. I could see Davis having one of his bigger games of the year vs. NYG.

    DLs (Defensive Line)

C.Avril (DET) vs. the Packers. The good news is he did play week 11 and did fine with 3 solos & 1 assist. Unfortunately, the Lions only got 1 sack on Quinn and L. Foote got that sack. I think there will be 3 sacks vs. the Packers on Thanksgiving day and Avril has a good chance of getting one of them.

DL David Bowens (CLE) As a linebacker, he came back down to earth a little with 5 solos, 1 assist and a sack week 11 vs. Detroit. His previous week vs. Baltimore was 7 solos 2 assists and 2 sacks.  However, as a DL, this makes him one of the best options in the league. This is a Browns/Bengals game and the Bengals just lost to Oakland. Emotions will be high and anything can happen in this Ohio rivalry.

DL Brian Orakpo (WAS)  vs. Philly week 12.  Don't get too down on him after not getting a sack vs. Romo last week. He had Romo wrapped up twice, but Romo is very hard to sack and snuck out. Orakpo has still been very solid and expect him to snap back vs. McNabb who throws the ball 70% of his time on the field. That equals sack opportunities.

    C. Kelsay (BUF) vs. Miami. Last time Miami & Buffalo met, there were 12 combined sacks in that game. Kelsay was a big part of that.

MY DL Pick up of the Week is Joey Porter (MIA). Not only did he finish with 7 solos and 2 sacks vs. Carolina last week, but he gets Buffalo this week. You know those games when you see guys get 3 or 4 sacks? This could be one of those games.  The problem is guessing whether it will be Porter or Jason Taylor or both getting those sacks. Based on Porter's most recent game, my money's on him.

IDP Week 11 NFL Fantasy Football 2009 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

    DBs (Defensive Backs)

    S. Bryan Scott (BUF) got the job done at WLB with 8 solos and 2 assists. Whether he plays WLB again in week 11 or moves back to strong safety vs. Jacksonville, I like him either way. The guys a tackle machine, period! He's proved that all season.

S M. Bullit (IND) vs. Baltimore is a very nice matchup for week 11.

Both STL Butlers Again vs. ARI week 11. Last week, I recommended strong safety James Butler & CB Quincy Butler vs. NO and both led their teams in the box scores. Although CB Q. Butler got 6 solos to J. Butler's 5 solos, however, J. Butler ultimately had the better day by adding an INT.  He is the one I'd recommend first going into week 11 as well. CC Brown and many other mediocre SS have come out looking like super stars in the box scores after facing Warner. So J. Butler at strong safety would be my first pick, but Q. Butler will be on both Fitzgerald and Boldin so expect 6 or more tackles.

S Ko Simpson (DET) gets Cleveland week 11 and these 2 are evenly matched. If there was ever a game to give Quinn a full chance to air it out and see what he can do, I think Eric Mangina will do it agains Detroit. Ko Simpson is been on fire. I'll predict Simpson with 6 or more tackles and an INT in this one.

SS Bernard Pollard (HOU) gets Chris Johnson and Vince Young week 11. I love this matchup in a tackle heavy league. He may even add a pd or a potential INT.

My DB PICKUP OF THE WEEK is TB safety Tanard Jackson vs.NO if he's available on your waiver wire. If not, a "poor man's" version of Jackson for a DB Pickup of the Week is SS D. Landry (BAL) facing Indy week 11.

    LBs (Linebackers)

LB L. Johnson (CAR) gets MIAMI!  He was solid week 10 and now he gets the old LB jackpot in the Dolphins. Nice sleeper with upside week 11 if you're currently rolling any of the SD LBs vs. Denver, for instance.

LB D. Hawthorne (SEA) is here just to tell anyone that had any doubts left that this guy is the man and one of the ABSOLUTE elites for the rest of the year. He is absolutely the man I recommend the most out of anyone on this entire list and to give you a comparison of where I would rank him for the rest of the year, I'd almost always start him over Laurinitis, and sometimes Mayo & Ruud. Obviously it depends on matchup, but the only guys who I could never start him over are Willis, Lofton, Beason or maybe DJ Williams or maybe D. Harris. That's how elite of an LB I feel this guy is until proven otherwise. I would always start him over guys like Fletcher & Dansby and maybe even Briggs for the rest of the year. Again, matchups always play a role, but he went NUTS on Detroit so he's very close to being "matchup proof" like a Willis or Lofton or a Beason.

LB Clint Session (IND) draws Baltimore week 11 and although ILBs are not overly successful, WLBs are successful vs. the Ravens. And Session is one of the best WLBs in the league. He's getting very close to being at the same level as a WLB like Akeem Jordan. I can see 7 solos and some extras in this matchup.

    K. Morrison & T. Howard (OAK) don't seem like guys who should be on a waiver wire list, but I'm seeing people drop one or both thanks to some low performances lately. Week 11, they see Cedric Benson. One of the last 30 carry types of backs left in the league next to a S. Jackson.  They will run Benson all day on Oakland. They don't want to take any chances with fluke loss when they are this close. Has anyone really sat and thought about the last time Cincy was in the playoffs? How about the last time Cincy had a winning season?  This is an extremely big deal for this Bengals franchise and they are not going to get cute.  They will ride the horse that got them here and Morrison & Howard will have an absolute TON of tackle opportunities. Although Morrison is the first recommendation, Howard is quite close behind so if you can grab either, feel good about it. To give a comparison, I would start Morrison or Howard over EJ Henderson or S. Cooper in week 11.

MY LB PICK UP OF THE WEEK is Keith Brooking (DAL) vs. Washington week 11 is a nice play. Brooking is an emotional guy and this rivarly will get him fired up. With the Redskins rejuvenated running game with Betts, Brooking will put up 7 or more and a potential sack.

    DLs (Defensive Line)

A sneaky one is C.Avril(DET) vs. the Browns. The coach deactived him & another guy last minute week 10 for special teams matchup reasons vs. Percy Harvin. He got a lot of shit about it from fans & press and will definitely have Avril out there this week. Avril will be angry and hungry vs. Lady Quinn.

DE J. Smith(SF) gets Green Bay week 11. Enough said. His chance for a sack increase significantly.

    C. Kelsay(BUF) vs. Tennessee was not a good matchup week 10 and no one on Buffalo's D got a sack. The matchup vs. Jacksonville week 11 is better and I could see Kelsay getting around 3 solos and a sack.

MY DL Pick Up of the Week has to be Brian Orakpo (WAS). I can't remember the last time I've seen a guy put up this many consecutive sacks in a row. Denver's line is really good and he still got 4 solos and 1.5 sacks week 10.  You gotta love him in the classic week 11 Redskins/Dallas rivalry.

MY DE/LB Pick up of the Week is David Bowens (CLE). Very good call from some of the "super readers" of this blog who kept bringing this guy up as a DE in some people's leagues. 7 solos 2 assist and 2 sacks last night vs. Baltimore. And next week he gets Detroit!!!!  Holy @#$%! This guy is gold.  I'm thinking strongly about dropping a Laurinitis for a guy like this, but it's only 1 week. An amazing week it was though!
