2012 NFL Draft News - Redskins Move Up to Get Robert Griffin III, Baylor Quarterback

ESPNs Adam Schefter writes "In a pre-draft blockbuster trade, the St. Louis Rams have agreed in principle to send the second overall pick in this year's draft to the Washington Redskins for three first-round draft picks and a second-round pick, according to a source in Cleveland familiar with the terms of the deal."

You can't say the Redskins aren't making an effort here. That's a high price for sure but it can be tough to put a value on a franchise guy like Robert Griffin III.

The question now is if Shanahan knows how to utilize a running quarterback. He doesn't have the best track record with these types of QBs. He tries to make them all into pocket passers and the Redskins simply do not have a good enough offensive line to give a pocket passer enough time to throw.  Should be interesting to see who the Skins get in free agency to compliment their new franchise QB.

2013 NFL Superbowl Pick

The Detroit Lions are the only non-expansion team left to never play in a Superbowl. This is why they are my 2013 pick to win it all!

Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups - NFL Fantasy Football 2011

Note: Week Seventeen championships are becoming more rare because teams that have nothing to play for tend to play their backups so play close attention to lineup changes on gameday.

Pickups

Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Paris Lenon, Thomas Howard, Colin McCarthy, Perry Riley, Jordan Senn, Larry Grant (if Patrick Willis is out again). If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Chase Blackburn (LB, NYG) – Coming off a 6 solo game, he faces the Cowboys next in a game that is a must win. He’s a serviceable LB5 and one of the few you will be able to still find on the waiver wire.

Casey Matthews (LB, Phi) – He should put up some good numbers vs. the Redskins so he’s worth a flyer as your LB5 or flex spot.

Kaluka Maiava (LB, Cle) – You’ll need to watch the injury report to make sure he starts, but he gets a strong matchup in this rival game vs. the Steelers and he just put up 7 solos last week.

Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin, Andre Carter(injured), Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Isreal Idonije, Chris Long, DT Phillip Taylor, DT Antonio Garay, DT Geno Atkins, DT Henry Melton, DT Jurrell Casey, DT Vince Wilfork, DT Linval Joseph, DE Robert Quinn. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Dwight Freeney (DE, Ind) – Freeney has had an “off” year despite his 7.5 sacks and there’s a good chance he’s on your waiver wire. He faces Jacksonville next and should definitely get a sack in that matchup.

Ziggy Hood (DE, Pit) – He has a fantastic matchup vs. the Browns and he’s coming off a game where he picked up a sack and 5 solos.

Phil Taylor (DT, Cle) He’s had some up and down performances, but he’s going to finish strong against the Steelers in the final game of the year for the Browns. He’s a high end DT2.

Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson, Reggie Nelson, Amari Spievey, Charles Godfrey, Charlie Peprah, Tanard Jackson, Ryan Clark, Lardarius Webb (watch injury), Craig Steltz (if Major Wright is out), Glover Quin (as a CB). If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)

Matt Giordano (S, Oak) – His 9 solos, an INT and a pass deflection should earn him another start in Week Seventeen and he’ll see lots of opportunities facing division rival San Diego.

James Ihedigbo (S, NE) – Ihedigbo has a good matchup against Buffalo next week and he has been consistently productive.

Jonathan Nelson (CB, Car) – He gets the Saints next in an incredible matchup and he’s fresh off 5 solos, 2 assists and a pass deflection.

Week 16 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups - NFL Fantasy Football 2011

Championship Pickups

Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Paris Lenon, Thomas Howard, Colin McCarthy, Perry Riley, Jordan Senn, Larry Grant (if Patrick Willis is out again), D.J. Smith (as long as Desmond Bishop is out). If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Jordan Senn (LB, Car) – READ THIS BEFORE YOU PICK HIM UP.  I already had him listed in bold above from previous weeks, but I have him listed here again to give some advice based on him outscoring every linebacker in the league in Week Fifteen and regarding his next matchup.  First, in case you didn’t see his numbers, he put up 12 solos, 2 assists, 1 pass deflection and 1 INT vs. the Houston Texans.  The first thing you need to know about this is, although he’s been kinda solid, these numbers are very uncharacteristic of his play. The second thing to do is look at his position and if the guy from his position did it in a previous week. The answer is YES. Thomas Howard of he Bengals also had an uncharacteristic 12 tackles with 9 of them being solo vs. the Texans in Week Fourteen. Lastly, you need to know that Senn’s next matchup is really poor vs. the Bucanneers, who only allowed a stud like Sean Lee to get 2 solos. All that being said, guess who plays the Texans next. (see Ernie Sims in bold below**)

** Ernie Sims or Phillip Wheeler (LB, Ind) – Sims played in place of the injured Wheeler in Week Fifteen and put up 8 solos and 7 assists. Awesome IDP numbers! In fact, depending on your scoring system, that ties Jordan Senn’s point total in some leagues. This was a home game for the Colts and they faced the Titans in this matchup. They face the Texans in Indianapolis next. What is important about it being a home game is the Colts stat keepers are completely insane (in a really good way for IDP). Case in point, they handed out 44 assists to the Colts defense in Week Fifteen. I’m going to say that number again: 44.  In total, 17 guys got playing time on defense. To give a comparison to another game, the St. Louis Rams played at home vs. the Bengals and 18 guys were given credit for defensive playing time. A total of 9 assists were recorded for the Ram players. In fact, as I looked around the league, 10 assists appears to be the norm and the total number of tackles in a game ranges from 50 to 65 at the highest. However, the Colts total tackle number was 83 because of the amount of assists that the stat keepers tack on. What a huge advantage this is for IDP guys who start Indianapolis defensive guys when the Colts play at home! So let’s add all this up: Bengal’s Thomas Howard put up his best tackling effort of the season vs. the Texans in Week Fourteen. Then Jordan Senn does the same vs. the Texans in Week Fifteen. Now, either Ernie Sims or Phillip Wheeler (watch injury report about Wheeler’s foot) will play the Texans in Week Sixteen. Only instead of playing them “straight up”, they also get the advantage of the home game stat keepers. There is definitely a lot of risk here, especially since this is your championship game, but if your opponent has Pat Angerer, this may be the only strategy to outscore Angerer, who will have a HUGE game.

Kavell Connor (LB, Ind) – As a continuation of everything I just said about Sims and Wheeler, Connor is the sure bet to play out of all the outside linebacker for the Colts and his numbers will also be bumped up by both the Texan’s matchup and the “hometown” stat keepers. Some realistic numbers for Connor are 4 solos and 6 assists. If that seems more solid then the production you’ve been getting out of your flex IDP spot or one of your LBs, then I think he’s worth the chance.

K.J. Wright (LB, Sea) – Wright gets San Francisco in Week Sixteen, who has been very  vulnerable to sacks up the middle by blitzing LBs. Wright has proven to be an excellent blitzer picking up sacks in the last two games he’s played. He should get decent tackle numbers in this matchup, but if you get 4 or more points for sacks in your league, he’s especially worth a long look to fill in your final LB slot for your championship game.

Desmond Bryant (DT, Oak) – He was on the list last week and did not have a good Week Fifteen vs. Detroit. So what gives me the nerve to list him again?  Besides the fact that he had a sack in each of his last two games, prior to Detroit and the “almost” proven fantasy theory that when you recommend a guy one week and he completely bombs, he inevitably puts up a great performance the following week, he’s facing their division rival, the Chiefs. And this is not just a division thing, but there is a long-standing hate between the Chiefs and the Raiders that goes back years and years. Defensive tackles are such a crapshoot, I like his chances more than many. For instance, I’ve owned Ndamukong Suh this year and learned that he is all hype because he’s done literally nothing for me. Desmond Bryant’s numbers are better than Suh’s this year.

Mark Anderson (DE, NE) – Andre Carter blew out his knee and will be out for a while. Anderson stepped up and took his place in Week Fifteen with 2 sacks. His next matchup is in Foxboro vs. Miami. I like his chances of picking up another sack.

Phillip Hunt (DE/LB, Phi) Not only did Hunt get a sack for the second game in a row, but he also picked up 5 solos. If he is listed as a DE in your league, I’d take a long look at him as your DE2 against the Dallas Cowboys in Week Sixteen. He’s an exciting young player.

Chris Kelsay (DE, Buf) – The prediction in last Friday’s IDP Preview was dead on that Kelsay would be the one to have the big game vs. Miami based on previous games. His sack, 5 solos and 2 assists were exactly what the doctor ordered. He gets the Broncos next, who know they can run the ball on Buffalo so Kelsay should see a ton of tackle opportunities. If he picks up a “scrambling” sack on Tebow as well, that’s a bonus.

Jacob Lacey (CB, Ind) – If you missed the Lacey recommendation on here last week, then listen carefully this week. His 8 solos, 3 pass deflections and an assist vs. Baltimore in Week Fourteen was impressive, but to follow it up with an INT for a TD, 12 total tackles and 2 pass deflections in Week Fifteen is INCREDIBLE!  You must find a way to get this guy on your team as either your starting CB or he’s the perfect CB2. They get Houston next and if you missed what I said about the Indianapolis stat keepers, read the linebacker section above.

Chris Rucker (CB, Ind) – This new Colts corner will be picked on plenty and thanks to the stat keepers in Indianapolis, it all adds up to easy points as your CB2.

Ashton Youboty (CB, Jac) – He’s coming off a substantial tackle day vs. Atlanta, where he racked up 7 solos and a pass deflection.  Tennessee will also throw the ball on them as they proved against the Colts in Week Fifteen, where the Indianapolis cornerbacks had very high tackle numbers as they are both listed above as recommendations. This is Youboty’s third solid game and makes him a strong consideration as a CB2.

Reshad Jones (S, Mia) – An INT, 5 solos and a pass deflection in Week Fifteen is not the only reason that I’m recommending him. He faces the Patriots next where you automatically bump up all safeties at least 3 more tackles than their average. That would put Jones at 6 solos with the upside of more, including a couple extra pass deflections.

Week 15 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups - NFL Fantasy Football 2011

Immediate Pickups

Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Wesley Woodyard, Paris Lenon, Thomas Howard, Brooks Reed, Kevin Burnett, Chris Chamberlain, Colin McCarthy, Perry Riley, Jordan Senn, Larry Grant (if Patrick Willis is out again), D.J. Smith (as long as Desmond Bishop is out), Justin Houston. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Kelvin Sheppard (LB, Buf) – He finally showed his full potential that we knew he had in him. His whopping 11 solos and 3 assists gives us a glance of his future. Those are big time numbers and we can’t expect that again in Week Fifteen vs. Miami, but he’s definitely worth picking up if you’ve been playing “Russian roulette” with your LB5 spot.

Jameel McClain (LB, Bal) – In all probability, Ray Lewis will be back for Baltimore’s Week Fifteen game vs. the Chargers. That’s exactly why I think you’ll be able to pick up McClain, because he’ll be dropped in a lot of leagues. However, keep in mind that he plays ILB next to Lewis, which is the same position Kelvin Sheppard played this past week next to Nick Barnett. All Sheppard did was pick up 14 tackles in Week Fourteen. On top of that, McClain has been playing like an animal over the last few weeks and that won’t just stop.

Rob Francois (LB, GB) – Francois has proved to be consistent enough to be a consideration. In Week Fourteen, he had 7 solos, 2 assists, an INT and a pass deflection.  He also had an INT in Week Twelve.

Jacquian Williams (LB, NYG) – The Giants linebackers are depleted and Williams is the best cover linebacker they have so he’s not coming out of the game on any snaps. In Week Thirteen, he had a respectable 5 solos, 3 assists and a pass deflection. In Week Fourteen, he had even better numbers and he gets division rival Washington Redskins next, who are also linebacker friendly.

Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin, Andre Carter, Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Isreal Idonije, Greg Hardy, Carlos Dunlap, Chris Long, DT Phillip Taylor, DT Antonio Garay, DT Geno Atkins, DT Henry Melton, DT Jurrell Casey, DT Vince Wilfork DT Linval Joseph, DE Robert Quinn. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Desmond Bryant (DT, Oak) – He has 4 sacks on the season, including a sack in each of his last two games. He faces Detroit next, who gives up a minimum of two sacks a game every week. Last week, they gave up 5 sacks. Two of those sacks were by defensive tackles.

Kevin Williams (DT, Min) – If you are like me and just can’t find a permanent defensive tackle to get the job done for you, Williams might be worth a long look. Over the last four weeks, Williams has had a sack in three of those games. In addition, he’s put up 17 tackles during that 4 game stretch. Those are nice numbers from your DT.

Dwan Edwards (DE, Buf) or Chris Kelsay (LB/DE, Buf) – I’ve been covering fantasy long enough to know that a lot of sacks always seen to occur when the Bills take on Miami. If Kelsay is a DE in your league, he has the best record of racking up sacks against Miami, but Dwan Edwards is just as good to take a chance on in this matchup.

Dave Ball (DE, Ten) – He pops up in the box scores with a two sack day a few times a year, but it’s hard to predict which games he will get a sack. He faces the Colts in Week Fifteen and his probability of a sack in that matchup are as high as they’ll get all year.

Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson, Reggie Nelson, Amari Spievey, Charles Godfrey, Justin King, Charlie Peprah, Tanard Jackson, Ryan Clark, Lardarius Webb, Craig Steltz (if Major Wright is out), Glover Quin (as a CB). If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)

Alterraun Verner (CB, Ten) – If Jason McCourty is out again, Verner is a must start and the highest CB to target on this list. He’s even higher than any cornerbacks list above in bold.

Daniel Manning (S, Hou) – Manning just put up 8 solos and 3 assists and he’ll be facing the Panthers next, who are solid for opposing safeties.

Jacob Lacey (CB, Ind) – His 8 solos, 3 pass deflections and an assist vs. Baltimore in Week Fourteen are impressive because Baltimore is not a very good matchup for cornerbacks. However, the Colts secondary is so depleted, every team is going to throw on the Colts this year. I like Lacey as a CB2 in Week Fifteen.

Malcom Jenkins (S/CB, NO) – Jenkins has really come on strong lately and he’s known to finish each season strong. What makes Jenkins interesting, besides the fact that he can put up 8 solos and 2 assists like he did in Week Fourteen, is that he is a safety who also counts as a cornerback in many leagues. So that makes him a strong play as a CB2 vs. Minnesota in Week Fifteen vs. the Vikings, who threw 3 INTs in Week Fourteen.

Week 14 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups - NFL Fantasy Football

Immediate Pickups

Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Wesley Woodyard, Paris Lenon, Thomas Howard, James Farrior, Brooks Reed, Kevin Burnett, Chris Chamberlain, Colin McCarthy, Perry Riley. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Mario Haggan (LB, Den) – Filling in for the injured Von Miller, Haggan posted 7 solos, 5 assists, a pass deflection and had an INT for a touchdown. What an incredible game! And if Miller is limited with his surgically repaired hand again, Haggan faces Chicago next, who threw 3 INTs and gave up 7 sacks in Week Thirteen.

Larry Grant (LB, SF) – This recommendation all depends on how bad Patrick Willis, is injured, but Grant finished the game with 5 solos, an assist and a sack.

D.J. Smith (LB, GB) – If Desmond Bishop can’t go again Week Fourteen, Smith is a decent play vs. Oakland. He finished his first full-time game with 6 solos and 2 assists. Those numbers are nowhere near what you would get out of Bishop, but they are serviceable as your number five linebacker.

Omar Gaither (LB, Car) – I don’t know if he’ll be back from his injury that has kept in out a game and a half, but watch the injury reports this week because he could be a sneaky start against Atlanta Week Fourteen. Other than James Anderson, he’s Carolina’s only other three down back and would get a lot of opportunities in the Atlanta matchup to rack up tackles.

Justin Houston (LB, KC) – Three sacks, 7 solo tackles and a pass deflection was the stat line for Houston Week Thirteen. This may not be something you can trust moving forward, but this stat line cannot be ignored. Note: This is the riskiest guy on the list this week as I don’t see him giving a repeat performance, but he is a “swing for the fences” guy if you truly have no one else to plug in.

Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin, Andre Carter, Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Isreal Idonije, Greg Hardy, Carlos Dunlap, Chris Long, DT Phillip Taylor, DT Antonio Garay, DT Geno Atkins, DT Henry Melton, DE Robert Quinn. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Jurrell Casey (DT, Ten) – He’s been such a consistent tackler, especially as a defensive tackle. He put up 5 solos Week Thirteen.

Linval Joseph (DT, NYG) – Joseph went off with 9 solos vs. Green Bay Week Thirteen! Green Bay is very difficult to sack, but they face the Cowboys next, who just gave up 5 sacks so if Joseph can get at least 4 solos and add a sack onto that, he would really help out your team.

John Henderson (DT, Oak) – As I just mentioned above, Linval Joseph got 9 solos vs. Green Bay. Now Henderson faces Green Bay in Week Fourteen and he’s coming off a 6 solo tackle game. I like his odds to have another nice day.

Vince Wilfork (NT, NE) – Wilfork had 5 solos, 5 assists and a sack Week Thirteen and faces the Redskins Week Fourteen, who are becoming notorious for sacks and poor line play. He’s definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for a replacement.

Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson(or Da’Norris Searcy), Reggie Nelson, Amari Spievey, Charles Godfrey, Justin King, Charlie Peprah, Tanard Jackson, Ryan Clark, Lardarius Webb, Prince Amukamara. If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)

Craig Dahl (SS, Stl) – If Darian Stewart is out again next week, find a way to get Dahl into your lineup vs. Seattle. He has the capability to put up better numbers than any of the guys I have listed above. He has a consistent IDP reputation of putting up huge tackle numbers over the years and he proved that again this week with 11 solos and 2 assists.

James Sanders (SS, Atl) – His 10 solos and a fumble recovery makes the second week in a row that he’s had a solid game filling in for the injured William Moore (quadriceps). If Moore is out again when Atlanta faces Carolina, get Sanders in your lineup as a solid DB2.

Craig Steltz (SS, Chi) – Starting strong safety Major Wright went down with a shoulder injury and Steltz jumped in and posted 9 solos and an assist in limited action. He’s a little risky to use going into your playoff run, but he also might be the missing spark you need to push you into the playoffs.

Glover Quin (S/CB, Hou) – For the second week in a row, he’s one of the top two leading tacklers on his team. Unfortunately, they are not “monster” IDP numbers as he averaging 5 solos a week as a starter. What makes him enticing in Yahoo leagues is he is listed as a cornerback, but plays the more tackle-heavy safety position. So he’s a sneaky play as your CB2.

Week 13 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups - NFL Fantasy Football 2011

Immediate Pickups

Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Wesley Woodyard, Thomas Howard, James Farrior, Brooks Reed, Kevin Burnett, Chris Chamberlain, Colin McCarthy, Perry Riley. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Antwan Barnes (LB, SD) – Barnes has 6 sacks on the season. His next matchup is against Jacksonville, who just surrendered 7 sacks to the Texans and 5 of those sacks were recorded by outside linebackers so Barnes is very solid play Week Thirteen. In fact, he breaks my rule that I state above because I would bet he’ll have a better game than Brooks Reed, Chris Chamberlain and probably even better than James Farrior Week Thirteen.

E.J. Henderson (LB, Min) – There is probably little chance that he is on your waiver wire, but if he is, he is your number one waiver priority over every guy I have listed above except NaVorro Bowman and possibly Perry Riley (because Riley has a nice matchup and has also been a stud). Henderson has been very difficult to predict this year because his younger brother and him would literally chance places in the box scores every other week. In Week Twelve, E.J. put up 9 solos and 3 assists and in Week Eleven, it was 9 tackles and a sack. In Week Thirteen, he faces Denver where every linebacker gets solid points.

Connor Barwin (LB, Hou) – I’m just going to throw stats at you and let you decide if he should replace any of your LBs. Week Twelve: 4 sacks, 7 solo tackles, 3 assists.  Week Eleven: 1.5 sacks  Week Ten: 1 sack  Lastly, Houston now has a 3rd string QB at the helm and Barwin might be on defense a lot if Houston can’t sustain drives.

Sam Acho (LB, Ari) – He’s been playing in place of the injured Joey Porter and already has 5 sacks, 23 tackles a couple pass deflections and 2 fumble recoveries. He faces the Cowboys next who are vulnerable to blitzing outside linebackers.

Akeem Ayers (OLB, Ten) – Facing the Bills Week Thirteen is an interesting matchup for Ayers, who can get to the quarterback and put up 6 solos and 2 assists like he did Week Twelve.

Jordan Senn (LB, Car) – The Indianapolis score keepers show their insanity once again, as detailed in Senn’s stat line of 3 solos and 7 assists. I have no idea why they are so lazy about their defensive stat keeping and just hand out assists to anyone they saw near the ball during a tackle or, worst yet, not giving a player full credit for a solo, but dividing it up among multiple guys instead. That being said, Senn is interesting for as long as Omar Gaither is out. He did a nice job in limited action Week Eleven as well. His Tampa Bay matchup is a nice one, so do a search on his name and Omar Gaither to see who gets the nod in Week Thirteen.

Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Phil Taylor, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin,, Andre Carter, Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Brian Robison, Greg Hardy, Carlos Dunlap, Chris Long, DT Phillip Taylor, DT Antonio Garay, DT Geno Atkins, DE Robert Quinn. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Robert Geathers (DE, Cin) – It’s difficult to narrow down on who will get the sacks each week for the Bengals, but Geathers has been on a roll and Pittsburgh is notoriously consistent for giving up sacks.

Van Martin (DE, SD) – I’ve noticed a decent trend with Martin and that trend is “tackling”. He only has 1 career sack in his 3 years in the league, but this is the first year he’s been a starter and he has 19 solos and 10 assists. It’s nice to have  a DL2 that you know you’re going to get some points while you “swing for the fences” with your “sack specialist” at your DL1. The good news is Martin is about to play the Jaguars Week Thirteen and that gives him his best chance to pick up his second sack of his career.

Henry Melton (DT, Chi) – This is a recommendation for those of you who play in defensive tackle required leagues. Melton is a strong player and recorded his 4th sack of the year Week Twelve. In Week Thirteen, he faces Kansas City and should pick up another sack.

Kevin Williams (DT, Min) – Williams now has a sack in each of his last two games and faces Denver Week Thirteen, who is very DT friendly for both tackles and sack opportunities.

Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson(or Da’Norris Searcy), Reggie Nelson, Charles Godfrey, Jordan Babineaux, Justin King, Husain Abdullah, Charlie Peprah, Tanard Jackson, Ryan Clark, Lardarius Webb, Prince Amukamara. If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)

Drayton Florence (CB, Buf) – With Terrence McGee out for the year, Florence is the next in line to fill that huge IDP point gap that was left by the McGee. Florence had a decent first start with 4 solos and an INT. He faces Tennessee next and he has a chance at another INT in that one.

Chris Owens (CB, Atl) –  Recommending Owens last week paid off if you put him in your lineup as your CB2 Week Twelve. He finished with 4 solos, a sack and an assist. I really like his Houston matchup Week Thirteen vs. the Texan’s 3rd string QB.

Brandon Carr (CB, KC) – His pass deflections on the year are slightly above average at 7. His interceptions are mediocre at 2 and his tackles are above average for a cornerback at 32. So why am I recommending him?  Because he faces Caleb Hanie of Chicago Week Thirteen, who just threw 3 INTs and has a history throughout his college career of throwing a lot of interceptions as well.

Usama Young (FS, CLE) – For the second week in a row, Young has found himself near the top of the Cleveland box scores. He had 6 solos and 4 assists Week Eleven and 4 solos 2 assists in a game where the Bengals did not need to throw it often since rushing it over 30 times was very affective for them. They face Baltimore next, which has become a lot more of a “free safety friendly” matchup for teams then you would have guessed.
