Note: Week Seventeen championships are becoming more rare because teams that have nothing to play for tend to play their backups so play close attention to lineup changes on gameday.
Pickups
Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Paris Lenon, Thomas Howard, Colin McCarthy, Perry Riley, Jordan Senn, Larry Grant (if Patrick Willis is out again). If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)
Chase Blackburn (LB, NYG) – Coming off a 6 solo game, he faces the Cowboys next in a game that is a must win. He’s a serviceable LB5 and one of the few you will be able to still find on the waiver wire.
Casey Matthews (LB, Phi) – He should put up some good numbers vs. the Redskins so he’s worth a flyer as your LB5 or flex spot.
Kaluka Maiava (LB, Cle) – You’ll need to watch the injury report to make sure he starts, but he gets a strong matchup in this rival game vs. the Steelers and he just put up 7 solos last week.
Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin, Andre Carter(injured), Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Isreal Idonije, Chris Long, DT Phillip Taylor, DT Antonio Garay, DT Geno Atkins, DT Henry Melton, DT Jurrell Casey, DT Vince Wilfork, DT Linval Joseph, DE Robert Quinn. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)
Dwight Freeney (DE, Ind) – Freeney has had an “off” year despite his 7.5 sacks and there’s a good chance he’s on your waiver wire. He faces Jacksonville next and should definitely get a sack in that matchup.
Ziggy Hood (DE, Pit) – He has a fantastic matchup vs. the Browns and he’s coming off a game where he picked up a sack and 5 solos.
Phil Taylor (DT, Cle) He’s had some up and down performances, but he’s going to finish strong against the Steelers in the final game of the year for the Browns. He’s a high end DT2.
Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson, Reggie Nelson, Amari Spievey, Charles Godfrey, Charlie Peprah, Tanard Jackson, Ryan Clark, Lardarius Webb (watch injury), Craig Steltz (if Major Wright is out), Glover Quin (as a CB). If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)
Matt Giordano (S, Oak) – His 9 solos, an INT and a pass deflection should earn him another start in Week Seventeen and he’ll see lots of opportunities facing division rival San Diego.
James Ihedigbo (S, NE) – Ihedigbo has a good matchup against Buffalo next week and he has been consistently productive.
Jonathan Nelson (CB, Car) – He gets the Saints next in an incredible matchup and he’s fresh off 5 solos, 2 assists and a pass deflection.

Hi Monk
I am in the final of my league, (yes we play week 17) thanks to your advice throughout the year as you can see. just wanted to get your thoughts on my lineup for the final
Starting 11 players, S,S,CB,CB,LB,LB,LB,DE,DE,DT,D (any defensive position)
Scoring
Tackle 1
Assist 0.5
PD 1
Tackle for loss 1
Sack 3
Int 5
FF 3
Safety 5, block kick 5
So my roster is
S chancellor, darian Stewart, George Wilson
Cb spivey and Arrington
LB Larry grant, des bishop, d Washington, perry Riley, angerer
DT dockett
DE aldon smith and JPP
If Willis plays I don't see myself starting grant
My questions are
Do you see Desmond bishop sitting or having reduced snap count this week for the packers or is he safe to start?
Should I stick with dockett at DT or pick up m Wilkerson who is going against the jags and looks like he has a chance for a sack or two? Do you see Wilkerson having a better game?
George Wilson has been pretty unimpressive since he came back from injury, do I stick with him this week? I can play all 3 safeties if I put one in the D spot
Spivey has done very little the last few weeks, should I replace him with one of Nelson (Carolina) who has CB eligibility ,Quinn, Greer, t Newman, a j Jefferson?
Would greatly appreciate your thoughts
Thanks
