IDP Week 12 NFL Fantasy Football 2010 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

Immediate Pick Ups (in order by priority)

DBs

S Adrian Wilson ARI had his second strong game in a row with 7 solos vs. Kansas City. He get's SF next week, which is a decent matchup.  Considering he got 8 tackles and a sack vs. Seattle and now 7 solos vs. Tampa Bay, I like his changes of getting 7 vs. the 49ers and now 5 solos and 3 assists vs. Arizona

S Eric Berry KC had 10 tackles & an INT vs. Buf week 8, then 4 tackles and 2 sacks week 9, then 5 solos vs. DEN week 10 and now 5 solos and 3 assists week 11. If this is more consistent than your guy, then Berry against Seattle (who will probably be playing in catch-up mode), add him and feel pretty good about it.

CB T. Newman DAL vs. New Orlean week 12 is a very nice matchup. He just got 6 solos and an INT vs. DET and I really like his Drew Brees matchup

S Sean Jones TB will have a better game then average vs. the Ravens. He should only be used in deeper leagues where you're not sure about your DB. He's guaranteed at least 5 tackles (unless injured in the game, of course). Baltimore is a great matchup for strong safeties & linebackers)

CB Glover Quin HOU just followed up his 13 solo week with a 6 solo week. I don't love his matchup against TEN week 12, but he got 13 solos agains JAC and I didn't like that matchup either so if you're looking for a flyer with upside, here's your high risk/high reward dude.

LBs

LB James Farrior PIT has been on a roll following up his 10 tackle, 1 sack game with an 8 tackle, 1 sack game. He should get another sack vs. Buffalo week 12 and add to his tackles facing the Fred Jackson and the newly found running game.

LB Keith Brooking DAL was all but a mirage in my book week 10 because I thought it was just the matchup vs. the Giants, but now he does it again vs. the Lions and that tells me that you want to use him vs. Jacksonville. He was an IDP stud last year along with Bradie James so this is more than a fluke. Use him while he's hot.

LB Pat Angerer IND had a 12 tackle performance and that breakout game we knew he was capable of. The only reason he's 3rd on this list is he did that with both Bracket & Session out. If thye are out again next week vs. San Diego, he moves to the top of this pick up list. But I don't know where he'll be playing at this point next week.

LB Daryl Smith & LB Justin Durant JAC - get whichever one you can vs. the Giants week 12. They are a lock for 5 or more tackles against that run matchup. If you can get both, even better. Obviously, these guys are never to be started over your studs

LB Geno Hayes TB
is automatic for a minimum of 5 solos this week. I have found that I can't depend on 5 solos from my "so called starters" like James Anderson & Derick Anderson. So if you have the same doubts with any of your matchups week 12, Hayes is your man. Quincy Black has missed week 10 & 11 and is no lock to play for week 12, but if he does, he might be a sleeper as well vs. the Ravens.

LB Kevin Bentley HOU gets run team TEN week 12. He got 7 tackles week 10 and 6 solos, 2 assist and an INT week 11.

DEs  (Redskins give up a lot of sacks so start DE Jared Allen MIN week 12 above all these guys below)

DE Charles Johnson CAR has performed 2 weeks in a row vs. unlikely candidates. 7 tackles vs. Tampa Bay week 10 and now  another 7 tackles and a sack vs. Baltimore. He's the number one DE off the waiver wire vs. Cleveland week 12.

DE Stylez White TB got a sack and a half week 11 and he gets Baltimore week 12 who has been very easy to sack over the last couple weeks.

DE Juqua Parker PHI has 5 sacks on the year and gets Chicago week 12. I like his chances a lot vs. Cutler

DT Trevor Laws PHI has 3 sacks this year and in DT required leagues, I like his chance to get a sack against Chicago as well.

Mirage:
S Branney Pool NYJ had had 1 tackle games for 4 weeks straight and now he gets a 7 tackle performan against Houston. If that doesn't speak to the power of free safeties vs. Hou, I don't know what can. That's Michael Griffin next week. I'm very jealous of those owners. He's FAR from a waiver wire guy, but if by some miracle he's on yours, take him NOW.

LB T. Spikes SF
finished with 8 solos and 4 assists. You just saw his best game of the year. He's still a nice play if you're in a pinch, but don't expect more than 5 solos in a game going forward.

Observation:
LB Patrick Willis SF with 13 solos and 2 sacks shows why he's the king of IDP.

Monk I have Ed Reed, pollard And T.J. Ward as my dbs.. Adrian Wilson is on my waiver wire would you drop any of these for him?

Unknown said...

@Swill25
Dumping either Ed Reed, pollard or T.J. Ward for Adrian Wilson depends on the rest of your lineup and your current record.

For instance, I consider both Reed & Pollard higher reward guys, but they both seem to have a bit more risk lately because they are showing you can get a few low games out of them. Ward is very consistent and solid. Not really a high reward guy, but solid. If you're in a position where you need to "go for it" to make the playoffs and have to take risks than I might go Wilson, but if you're in a good position in your league then I'd stick with Reed Ward & Pollard.

Monk I have DBs Tillman and Delmas. Do you like Wilson over one of these guys and which one?

I have LB Desmond Bishop GB, do you like Farrior better for week 12?

Monk , I love the site!! One last question this week.. My lbs are p. Willis, clay Matthews, and D.J. Williams. Williams had a concussion Monday night. I rushed and grabbed James farrior off the waiver wire . Would you reccomend keeping farrior or grabbing Joe mays.. I'm currently 2nd in my league looking to stay consistent.. We get 3pt tac. 3pt sac/int, .5pt sac int yd, 1 pt assist

Monk,
Hope all is better post-accident...got a LB question for you:
It's looking like DJ Williams may miss the upcoming week due to the concussion he reportedly suffered week 11, so I may need a 1 or 2 week replacement. Who would you look at of these guys:
Dansby, Lenon, Brooking, Laurinitis?

Also, I have James Hall at DL, is he a better option this week than Vandenbosch or Ngata?

Thanks!

Monk, right now I have Whitner, Weddle and Courtney Greene...thinking of dropping one of them for either Devin McCourty or Brent Grimes...

Grimes has @Car, @Sea, NO in weeks 14,15,15 (my playoffs) and McCourty has @Chi,GB,@Buff.

What do you think? They have very similar numbers...I am looking for consistency, hoping to get at least 10 pts in each game. Picks and sacks are worth 3, everything else 2. Should I pick up Grimes AND McCourty by dropping Greene and Weddle?

Cheers, and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the help, Monk. I have a couple of DB questions.

1. Need to play 2 CBs out of Asante Samuel, Jarraud Powers, Antoine Winfield, Devin McCourty. Who do you like?

I'm leaning toward McCourty and Powers. Samuel seems to be only valuable for his big-play ability but that can end up getting you 1 or 2 points if he doesn't have a pick. Winfield has been disappointing this year. He gets weekly tackles (around 3 or 4 solos) but almost no big plays.

2. Should I drop one of the CBs I have and pick up Chung for my one Safety spot?

I have been using Pollard for that spot all year but he has had a couple of stinkers in a row.

Thanks Monk

Hey Monk,
I need to play 2 LBs in my league. I have Dansby, D. Johnson, and Tulloch. Last week I started DJ, and Dansby and lost due to a 3 point dud by DJ. What two do you recommend for next week? Future weeks? Thanks a ton.

Can you give me some direction? Tackle Solo=1, Tackle Assist=0.5, Sack=2, INT=2, Fumble Force=1, Fumble Recovery=1, TD=6, Safety=2, Pass Defended=1, Block Kick=3

I have Lawrence Timmons, LaRon Landry, DeAngelo Hall, BN Stewart Bradley. Landry out with Achilles. Hall and Timmons looking so-so. Here’s the available list…

ILB: James Farrior, Joe Mays, Takeo Spikes, DeAndre Levy
OLB: David Hawthorne, Scott Shanle, Kevin Bentley, Pat Angerer, Terrell Suggs
S + CB: Donte Whitner, Bryant McFadden, Antoine Cason, Abram Elam, Louis Delmas, Brian Dawkins

I’d like to keep it down to 3 D guys. With Landry out, I guess it’s going to be 4 unless I cut Landry. I kind of like Farrior, Mays, Levy. Thanks!

Hi Senor Monk:

I have Mayo and James Anderson as starters and need to choose between Angerer, Bishop, and Farrior for one more spot. What's your recommendation?

Hey Monk- Need your help! Courtland Finnegan or Bryant McFadden?

Hi Monk,
I have been experiencing a drop in production from B. Pollard and already have P. Chung as my DL1 but should I bench Pollard for TJ Ward until Pollard comes around? Also Which 2 of the following would you start this week? C. Lofton/Desmond Bishop/ Derrick Johnson or B. Cushing. Thanks for suggesting C. Johnson I am starting him over T. Hali in a tackle heavy league as a nice compliment to Tuck this week.

So i cant remember my previous post this week so here is anohter one possibly updated so if u cud answer both.

I just traded for jared allen and patrick willis. :) I need 2 LB to start this week.
Willis
Poz
Tulloch

Which two??

Now for DE
I need 2 as well

I think allen and cole is sick but let me know wat u think!

Some Waiver wire options for CB are:

Cason

Add any of these or stick with mcfadden

just to remind u of the scoring in case its makes a difference on ur judgement

Tackle Solo-3

Sack-4
Interception-4
Fumble Force-4
Fumble Recovery-3
Defensive Touchdown-6
Safety-6
Pass Defended-2
Block Kick-3

@ Alex

All guys player harder on Thanksgiving so Delmas will be fine. Wilson & Tillman are a tie in my book so just keep Tillman.

I like Bishop more than Farrior.

___________

@ Swill25

Keep Farrior over Mays. He's more consistent & gets you sacks.

___________

@ Graham

I think you gotta go Laurinitis. He's the safest on that list.

If you have to drop James Hall and you will have trouble getting him back then I'd just keep him. But if you can get Vanden Bosch for a one week pick up, I would go him. NEVER EVER underestimate the power of Detroit defensive guys on Thanksgiving. They play harder because they know they're on the big stage and they will be on the field a lot. Brady is not hard to sack and that NE line is not the greatest. I have ridden Detroit defensive guys on Thanksgiving for years and they've never let me down. One year, Paris Lenon got me 38 points on Thanksgiving.

___________

@ Long Live the Fade

CJ, I like that you're looking ahead and willing to make an aggressive move. I feel best about Bentley from that great list of Shanle, Bentley & Hawthorne, but I think Hawthorne has the best chance of having HUGE weeks. I'm going in with you on this move. I'm also dropping Lenon for Bentley. Hawthorne is not available in my league though so I'm lucky that the decision is made for me. Good luck to us.

___________

@ Nick

I dropped Greene recently and went with an upside corner back from NYG Terrell Thomas. I have to get aggressive and go for points in my league so I'm taking some bigger risks. Based on your list of Grimes or McCourty, I'd go McCourty over Greene for upside.

Unknown said...

@ Maze

First, definitely drop any of your DBs for Chung at Safety. And I would go McCourty and Powers like you're saying. Pollard has some nice matchups coming up. Can you keep him on your bench? I'm looking to start Corner Terrell Thomas over Pollard so I know what you mean.

___________

Your Question

Answer
Dansby has been on fire again, but I think you have to go Johnson and Tulloch for the win.

___________

@ Ian

First and foremost, I like Whitner best off your list vs. Pit. He'll be your solid guy with a guaranteed 5 solos and at least a pass deflection or more. So you need that guy as your first building block. After that, I would start Levy on Thanksgiving. So we both agree on Levy.

It's so hard to bench Timmons, but that is what you have to do, but I I'm a little worried about Farrior. Not a lot, but a little. It could be Timmons or Woodley or Farrior who go off so that's your small risk. I will say that Farrior seems like your best bet though. I can tell you that I'm going with Bentley vs. TEN this week. But that's only because I don't have guys like Whitner, Farrior, I think TEN will run, run, run with a guy named Rusty Springs at QB and Bentley has looked really solid the last couple weeks. The other guy I feel really like for upside is Angerer.

Joe Mays scares me a little because Haggan could do this week instead or they could experiment with what they have and go Woodyard. I just don't know there.

If it were me, I'd go Whitner, Levy & Bentley to stay conservative. Or I'd go Whitner, Levy & Farrior (hoping Farrior gets a sack to get me more points) or if I needed to be really aggressive for the highest point total, I'd go Whitner, Levy & Angerer (with the thinking that Angerer gets 9-11 tackles). So it depends on how aggressive you need to go for a playoff push or how week your offensive matchups are this week.

___________

@ RJ

Mayo & Anderson are pretty solid so if you're looking for the safest guy, it's Bishop. If you're looking for a bit more upside, then it's Farrior (but your depending on him getting a sack) and if you'll looking for the highest ceiling guy, it's Angerer who could get you 4 tackles or he could get you 12 tackles. But if Brackett & Session are out, you can count on at least a solid 6 tackles out of him with an upside of 12 tackles. So it all depends on how aggressive you need to be. Bishop is your safest bet.

___________

Out of Finnegan or McFadden, it's Finnegan vs. Houston's passing game.

___________

I like Ward over Pollard until Pollard gets back on track. I'd go Lofton and D. Johnson

____________

@ Eli
Willis & Poz

Allen & Cole

Stick with McFadden
