IDP Week 8 2012 NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

I've got a lot of questions on how to sign up for Monk Mail. If you look to your right, you'll see the words "Free Monk Mail" and a box under it. Just enter your email into the box (typing your email overtop of the small gray words "email address") and hit your "enter or return" key and it's as simple as that.

Faithful Fellow IDP Mates,

Due to my waiver wire pickups being published elsewhere, I have been asked to stop posting it for free on my blog.  I created this blog 6 years ago to locate friends who are also passionate about IDP fantasy football. And boy did I ever find them.  And because you have been such good friends and so loyal to me, I will create new content that I am not being paid for elsewhere and continue to do my best to answer any general IDP questions you have.

I'll still stay in weekly contact with my most faithful follower who I know will stick around for the small talk, if nothing else.

Thank you and let's call this a new beginning,

Monk

Haha, I agree. That's why I became the first IDP guy to every publish anything on Sunday nights because I know people are in leagues where they want it as early as possible to beat out others in there league. Are you signed up for my free email?

darkside101 said...

Yes I am. I just sent a message on Fantasy Guru complaining. They post regular waiver wire at about midnight monday morning. So I pay for info so I'm thinking your's should be up on Guru at the same time. Your info is just as important.

That's a bummer! This blog has been awesome and I always manage to stay about a year ahead of my league following you. Past home run pickups have included Bowman, Bishop, Branch, and Chancellor.

And yeah I need it Sunday night just to double check with my own thoughts. I'm in an open waivers league and info the next day won't do me much good. Thank you tho. Are you ever on XM with any of them?

you know, this brings up something else that has been bothering me. On yahoo I've noticed the last two years at least that the little blurbs on the matchup ratings thing. They are the exact match to the little blurbs on the Fantasy Guru projections by each player. So my point being I can read the same advice on Yahoo for free?? I always thought that was BS. So how can they not want you to post it for free but it looks like to me they are doing the exact same thing???

sorry to hear someone is stealing your WW articles.. :(
I'm signed up for the email, and appreciate your work and insight!

BTW, any idea what happened to Schofield this week? I picked him up when McCarthy wasnt going to play, and got a big fat 0...ugh.
I lost last week because of McCarthy, hope this doesnt make it two in a row.
(I've got McCarthy AND Angerer, who have monopolized my bench for the last 4 weeks...going to have to let someone go, and dont know what to do. any opinions?)

So would Fantasy guru be carrying the same content. I need my weekly pick-up column.

Dain Petersen said...

So the same column will now be on Fantasy guru right. I need my Pick ups.

I posted a comment earlier, hopefully it didnt get eaten by the net.
You have a great site! Thank you for all your assistance over the last few years.

So what do you think about Angerer and McCarthy going forward?
I'm vascilating over picking up Burfict. It seems that Angerer and McCarthy both have potential, but at this point it is unrealized for both. Keep hanging with them or dump one (both)?

This is extremely unfortunate. Your blog is the first one I go every week. Where will you be posting now?

This is extremely unfortunate. Your blog is the first blog I read every week. Where can I get more of your fantasy writing?

I've been reading your blog for 3-4 years now (as long as I've been playing FF), but never posted. Have to say I'm pretty bummed; I've always enjoyed the column and benefitted from the advice. Guess you gotta make a living, though I'm not sure I can swing that subscription fee. Anyway, hopefully you won't disappear completely. Thanks.

Sign up for free Monk Mail folks. The rule is I can't publish on this blog.

That's a bummer. I don't understand though, who said you can't publish on the blog?

I second the suggest to sign up for the Monk Mail, it's a great way to get the weekly information. I am also a Guru subscriber and was glsd to see you on board with your IDP analysis. I still plan on logging in every week to the blog.
Over the past few seasons, this has been one of my favorite sources, both for suggestions on pickups, as well as to measure my abilities to target some of the same players Michael highlights in my articles.
Again, sign up for the e-mail, you will be glad you took the time.

How do we sign up for the e-mail?

Wow Monk this really adds to my mid-seasons stress. I appreciate the column that you've maintained over the last couple of years. I look forward to heeding your fantasy advice elsewhere. All the best!

How do I sign up for monk mail?

Monk, I can keep 4 LB's. I have S Weatherspoon, P Angerer, P Riley and L Kuechly. Should I drop one for C McCarthy who is on waivers and may be back this week? Looking for ROS outlook. League is 1pt tackle, 6pt Int, 6pt sack.
Thanks! Dan

You rule dude! Do what you gottta do. Love your advice. Always have. Thank you.

Help out the brothers dude.

Lots of free stuff that is why it called the internet...

Monk, How would you rank these LB's this week? I need to play 3. S. Weatherspoon, Angerer, Riley, Kuechly. Should I drop one for McCarthy who is on waivers?

Also, I have J. Smith, Wake, and C Jones at DL. Which 2 are the better play this week? I've seen rankings with each over the other two.
Thanks!
Dan

ANSWER:
Steve,

I think Jurrell Freeman will still have more value on the Colts than Angerer this week as they are going to be very careful with him, but obviously he'll be the most valuable on the team once he gets back up to speed. Injured guys like this are always very frustrating to owners.

McCarthy is similar right now. It's just one of those cases that he's healthy when he's healthy. I'm in the same boat. We just have to watch the reports. Similar to how I feel as both a Jimmy Graham and Hernandez owner right now.

ANSWER:
Dan,
Angerer probably won't be fully healthy for a couple more weeks and McCarthy is tricky right now too so that's a VERY difficult call. I'm leaning toward McCarthy, but how do you drop Angerer? If you can stay put, just stay put.
I like Wake & Smith match ups best!
