Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups - NFL Fantasy Football

Reminder: Thursday night football is Raiders vs. Chargers. No byes this week.

Immediate Pickups

Linebackers
(Some LBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are NaVorro Bowman, Rolando McClain, Ray Maualuga, Donald Butler, Daryl Smith, Wesley Woodyard, Thomas Howard, Gary Guyton, Brandon Spikes, James Farrior, Brooks Reed. If they are still on your Wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Kevin Burnett (ILB, Mia) – He has been on fire the last two weeks. He finished Week Nine with 1.5 sacks, 10 solos & 2 assists. He faces the Redskins Week Ten, who have been a solid matchup for linebackers all year.

Phillip Wheeler (OLB, Ind) – Wheeler faces the Jaquars at home. The reason I mention where they are playing is because the Indianapolis stat keepers are “assist” crazy and hand them out like candy. The Colts lead the league in assists and it’s not just by a little bit. It’s an absolute ton compared to other teams like St. Louis stat keepers who almost NEVER hand out assists. More importantly, Wheeler has been on fire the last few weeks and he’s coming off a 12 tackle game with a sack. So start him with confidence in Week Ten.

Larry Foote (ILB, Pit) – There’s been a lot of confusion and shuffling with the Pittsburgh linebackers so there’s a chance Foote is still on the wire for you to use Week Ten. He’s facing Cincinnati, who has been a nice matchup against the run. Foote is coming off a 10 tackle game with a pass deflection. He should be solid again vs. the Bengals.

Quincy Black (SLB, TB) – I’ve noticed that the strong side linebacker has been wildly successful against the Houston Texans. I’ve also noticed that Quincy Black has been coming on strong these last couple weeks and he took over the team lead in the box scores Week Nine with 7 solos and 2 assists. Guess who else led their team in the box scores this Week Nine and outscored Dqwell Jackson? Cleveland’s strong side linebacker Scott Fujita, who hadn’t come anywhere close to numbers like 7 solos, 2 assists and a pass deflection prior to playing the Texans in Week Nine. Obviously, the point of me telling you all this is Quincy Black gets the Texans Week Ten, so if you’ve been playing Geno Hayes and you’re as disappointed as I am, drop him and get Black instead.

Sam Acho (OLB, Ari) – I recommended him here last week to continue his sack streak and make it 3 games in a row. He did that Week Nine and now he’s facing the Browns in Week 10 who just gave up 4 sacks and 2 of them were to a player who reminds me a lot of Sam Acho and that’s Brooks Reed of Houston. So if Acho follows in Reed’s footsteps, you could see 2 sacks for Acho in Week Ten. (watch the injury reports though to see if Joey Porter is coming off injury to reclaim his spot)

Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Phil Taylor, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin, Derrick Morgan, Andre Carter, Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Brian Robison, Greg Hardy, Carlos Dunlap. If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)

Carlos Dunlap (DE, Cin) – I know I’ve had him on this list before, but he’s coming off a game where he had 2 sacks and now he faces Ben Roethlisberger, who takes a ton of easy coverage sacks so if you can get Dunlap for Week Ten, do it.

Chris Long (DE, Stl) – Long got another sack Week Nine as predicted and his value will never be higher after he gets another one Week Ten against the easy to sack Browns. After his 3 sack game vs. Drew Brees Week Eight and now another sack Week Nine, I’d ride him one more week to drive his value up even higher and then sell. You could get a Robert Mathis or Elvis Dumervil for him.

Lawrence Jackson (DE, Det) – He has 2.5 sacks in his last two games and faces Jay Cutler Week Ten. He’s also averaging 3 solo tackles a game as well.

Phillip Taylor (DT, Cle) – The one absolute this year is the St. Louis Rams can be sacked and it continues to be proven week in and week out. Taylor is a nice start Week Ten in defensive tackle required leagues and not a bad DL2 in standard DL required leagues.

Antonio Garay (DT, SD) – He picked up his first sack of the year along with 6 tackles. He’s incredibly strong from his DT position and will be facing rival division adversary Oakland Thursday night in a must win game.

Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson, Reggie Nelson, Charles Godfrey, Jordan Babineaux, Justin King, Husain Abdullah, Charlie Peprah, Terrence Johnson, Tanard Jackson, Ryan Clark, and Lardarius Webb. If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)

Chris Harris (CB, Den) – He needs to be your number one DB waiver wire pick up. For the second week in a row, he has led the Denver box scores and he’s done it in a big way. Week Nine, he got an INT, 9 solos, 2 assists and a pass deflection. They get KC next where the Miami secondary just had a nice IDP fantasy outing.

Cason starting in place of Marcus Gilchrist (CB, SD) – I might even like Cason better for Week Ten than Chris Harris as he’s facing the same team that gave Chris Harris all those numbers in Week Nine – the Oakland Raiders.

Giordano if Michael Huff can't go (FS, Oak) – Huff has been injured and quiet all year so I have a suspicion you’ll be able to sneak him off the wire. He’s facing the Chargers Week 10 and Phillip Rivers just threw 2 interceptions to Green Bay’s free safety Charlie Peprah. One of those INTs, Peprah returned for a TD. Huff is a better athlete than Peprah and a star punt returner so given half the chance, he can also get a pick six for your team Week 10.

Justin King (CB, Stl) – He’s back from injury and he was very productive for us prior to his injury, just as Josh Gordy was good to us while King was out.

A.J. Jefferson (CB, Ari) – He has been very consistent at about the 5 solo mark and that’s exactly what you look for in your CB2. He gets the high flying Eagles next and he should be busy again.

What do you think of Chris Houston? He is a scoring machine this year, but is he worth having over other guys you list?
