A.J. Hawk (ILB, GB) – Perfect timing for Hawk to get hot since he’s facing the very run heavy Vikings next and many of you are searching for substitutes to pick up the slack from losing guys like Patrick Willis & Navorro Bowman during your bye week. His Week Six numbers were 7 solos, 2 assists and 1 sack, which are definitely LB1 numbers, and he’ll likely be facing a rookie QB in Minnesota Week Seven.
Jovan Belcher (ILB, KC) – Belcher put up 6 solos in his last game vs. Minnesota and he’s facing run first Oakland Week Seven who will be putting even more emphasis on the run now that they lost Jason Campbell for the season. He’s a solid bye week fill in.
Jarret Johnson (OLB, Bal) – Finishing with 5 solos, 2 assists and a sack vs. Houston reminded us of the hot streak he went on mid-season of last year. And since his next matchup is against the very LB friendly Jaguars who just gave up 5 sacks to the Steelers, 3 of which were to linebackers, we feel this is good timing to give him a shot if you need help.
Some other guys who have nice matchups Week Seven that I would take above any of the guys I mentioned above if they are available are Von Miller (OLB, Den) Paris Lenon (ILB, Ari), Donald Butler (ILB, SD) and Kavell Conner (OLB, Ind).
Defensive Linemen
(Some DLs to point out who were on this before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Kyle Vanden Bosch, Phil Taylor, Jabaal Sheard, Ahtyba Rubin, Derrick Morgan, Andre Carter, Aldon Smith, Jeremy Mincey, Brian Robison, Greg Hardy. If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below)
Anthony Spencer (DE/LB, Dal) – If Spencer is listed as a DL in your league, he’s your number one defensive lineman this week. He’s racking up the tackles, with 7 in Week Six, and he faces St. Louis next, who are giving up 4.5 sacks a game. That makes them the easiest team to sack in the entire NFL.
Brett Keisel (DE, Pit) – He’s fresh off a performance that included 2 sacks, 4 solos, 2 assists and a pass deflection vs. Jacksonville. In Week Seven, he gets the Arizona, who are giving up 3.5 sacks a game. The stats speak for themselves.
Jayme Mitchell (DE, Cle) – Mitchell is a “win/win” play as he’s averaging 3 solos a game and he’s facing the easy to sack Seahawks Week Seven. So even if he doesn’t get you that sack, he’ll still get you some points. Those are my kind of DLs!
Pernell McPhee (DE, Bal) – This recommendation is purely based on the probability of him getting a sack. He got one when predicted vs. St. Louis and one vs. Houston Week Six. Now he’ll face the easy to sack Jaguars and the opportunity is there. You might get one solo tackle out of him as well, but the best stat line you can expect from him is 1 sack & 1 solo.
Defensive Backs
(Some DBs to point out who were on this list before and should no longer be on your Waiver Wire are Morgan Burnett, Kam Chancellor, Dashon Goldson, Jon McGraw, Eric Smith, Sean Jones, George Wilson, Reggie Nelson, Charles Godfrey, Jordan Babineaux, Justin King, Husain Abdullah, Charlie Peprah and Lardarius Webb. If they are still on your wire, pick up those guys before anyone listed below.)
Tanard Jackson (S, TB) – We recommended Jackson last week as an immediate pickup and we’re here to give you one last reminder again this week. Tampa Bay played him immediately upon the commissioner reinstating him and he rewarded them with an INT, 5 solos and a pass deflection.
Thomas DeCoud (S, ATL) – He’s fresh of an INT, 7 solos and a pass deflection and next week he faces the high flying Lions. He’s a very solid play.
Kurt Coleman (S, Phi) – This is a very tricky recommendation because, on the on one hand I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t mention a guy who just got 3 INTs, 2 pass deflections and 5 solos in one game. However, on the other hand, he might only be a fill in for the injured Jarred Page or a stopgap for future safety Jaiquawn Jarrett. After his performance Week Six though, I think he’s a safe bet to start again, but he’s on bye Week Seven so if you want him, he’s a stash and wait until Week Eight.
Husain Abdullah (S, Min) – He’s been on this list before, but it needs to be re-emphasized that he’s facing Green Bay Week Seven who is extremely friendly to safeties. A matchup like this can boost a solid 5 solo guy like Abdullah up to the 7 solos range and perhaps a couple pass deflections.
Terrence Johnson (CB, Ind) – His numbers are progressively getting stronger each week as he continues to cut in more and more on Jacob Lacey’s playing time. He facing the pass heavy Saints Week Seven so if you’re looking to take a flyer on a CB2, look no further.

With Tuck coming back after the bye the coach has admitted that his snaps will be scaled back. I'm sure he'll still have his moments but I'd rather have someone in my DL position that is playing full time starters snaps. Do you agree?

You would have to get something very high for JPP because I really don't believe his production will drop very much. You would need to have a fantasitic replacement at DE for JPP as well. Obviously, he's not going to stay at the pace he's on now because I don't believe he'll finish the season with 20 sacks, but he's rarely going to drop out of the top 10 all year either. So if you're only going to get a third WR form him then it's not worth it, but if it's someone like a buy low on Javid Best right now or maybe even a sneaky buy low on a guy like Brandon Lloyd or maybe even for the top safety like Gibril Wilson or especially if you can get D. Jackson LB Cle.
